should he stay or should he go .................to beijing

havent seen no posts on this - especially with olympics round the corner

imo dont think Dwain Chambers should go - rules are meant to be challenged but in this case he hasnt got a leg to stand on - the starting blocks as well.........

Has the court case happened yet?

    I believe he should go.

Let him go to Beijing and cross your fingers that he wins a medal.
He is a drug cheat who didnt win anything by cheating. He is now clean and showing the best form of his life. I say let him go and just prove to young impressionables that talent means more than drugs.
It is a great example if he is successful.

It is tomorrow. It was going to be today but it was put back a day.

I think he should not go, for the reason that he said on the record that "to win something at this level you have to take some sort of drugs",For that reason he should not go, bad role model for younger kids.

he finds out tomorrow - if they find in his favour - craig pickering wont be going -

    he should stay.

If he goes it sends out the total wrong message about drug taking in sports. He was aware of the consequences when he took the drugs. Can't stand the bloke, and fair play to the BOA for standing up to him.

...think of the bigger message it sends out if he goes and does well? For me that far outweighs the other message.

    You can either go for:

    a) Drug cheats arent welcome in sport as it gives an unfair advantage
    or..
    b) As long as you have talent you dont need drugs and its shown by how well Dwayne is running.

i want him to go, but i dont think he should be allowed, when he took the drugs the rule was in place, he broke that rule end of. its a tough lesson but theres some things in life were 2nd chances dont happen, he needs accept that and move on.

I'm all for 2nd chances, but he broke the rules, ask his relay team mates who lost there medals due to his drug taking if they want him to go. The blokes a loser, who's loving being back in the limelight

I cant agree with you more but I think that the BOA have an ideal opportunity to say to everyone...look what you can do without drugs. They would look silly though if he didnt win anything.
EDIT: Im not personally calling it a 2nd chance for my "for" argument.

and how do we know he is not on something which the tests can't detect yet -
if he does go and blows out there will be a lot of recriminations

    he shouldnt go

he paid the price for cheating years ago, and he is the best we have

There is so much technology available I would eat my hat if he was stupid enough to do it again

I say he should stay. He knew the consequences but decided to ignore them and now he has the cheek to whinge about it.

I think all drug cheats should be banned for life.

    hear, hear. I totaly agree,

we had a heated debate here over this, hubby reckons he's had his punishment for what he did and should have a clean slate now- whereas I disagree, and feel he should be banned for life.

If any of us where found under the influence whilst doing our jobs would we be re-instated.?

cheaters should be banned for life, end of story.

IMO, he got a life-time ban which is pretty self-explanatory.

Plus, if he does go and win, people will most probably say "the drugs have had a long term affect which helped him win" or something along those lines.

yes - happy with outcome - he was pushing his luck anyway -

So what about the likes of Rio Ferdinand, who skipped his drugs test (I'll leave you to ponder why:roll:) He's now playing football again

Admittedly i don't know the details of this case, but a life time ban seems harsh, compared to other sports

should be for all sports life time ban, cheaters hopefully go to hell that goes for people that cheat online in gaming also
