Should I be worried?

Paid for something over the phone company said they have lost my details....cant see the money coming out of my account, but they details must be some where dont they have a certain duty of care with things like this,

the item still hasnt been paid for but the company has been on asking for my details again tbh i am not that pleased about giving them to them as they have 'lost' the others.

anyone had something similar happen, really would prefer for them to find the other set rather than me handing over the details again,

oh its a credit card btw

you have a point but to be fair put yourself in their shoes, things do get mislaid especially in an office environment. It doesn't make it right but they wouldn't have to say they had lost them to do something dodgy with them. As its a credit card you will have some protection, re order and accept an apology.

what company?

i get that but they have my full name, address the card is registered to, credit card number expiry date and the 3 digit number on the back, someone else in the office could easily have lifted it, and with my full details they could use it for several things, not just for using my card

surely they would have been logged into their computer system when you gave them it? not just written down on abit of paper. All sounds very ametaur to me. can you not use a different company?

exactly what i would have thought, we cant go somewhere else as we already have the item, and fitted it, just paying the outstanding amount

Tell them you want to pay the outstanding amount via bank transfer. OR maybe they even have a company paypal?

lol making me feel worse!!! but thats exactly my point, i think i will cancel the card, and pay by BT or paypal as suggested by dangergod, and have a very strong word about this with the company as well, cant i report them for breaching the data protection or something, I know that stuff gets lost but surely with details like this they should be held accountable in some way?

I've had it the other way around where empiredirect lost my order but still tried to take the £160 out of my account.

I ended up having to fax them a copy of my bank statement with the transaction highlighted.

Just send them a cheque or bank draft, or ask them for their bank details and have it payed into their account.

They should have a system in place where your details are not written on a piece of paper, perhaps you should confirm this with them.

total over-reaction imo

they have lost your details so just give them then again (no different to when you gave them in the first place).

cancelling the card etc is ridiculous

i got ripped off by ukhotdeals, not for much but had cash back from my cc company, anyway try looking at canyoutrustthem.com see if theres any bad reports etc
