Should I cancel Virgin and join again to get a good deal?

Tried to get a V+ box (for HD) for £49 but was told I'm not entitled because I already have XL TV, phone and broadband, I can get it for £99. I said to guy that I would be better off cancelling my subscription with them and getting my boyfriend to sign up in his name so that would can get all the great deals available to everyone else but customers that already pay them loads. He said I could but would have to wait 3 months between cancelling and joining up again, do you think that's true?
A few months ago I tried the "I'm moving to Sky" threat and the girl said OK. Lol.
Either I'm not threatening enough or Virgin know that most people in our area have to use them because the landlords don't like Sky dishes so you have to install them on the sly.
I'm quite happy with Virgin and believe in 'better the devil you know' so maybe I'll just wait until HD TV is available on terrestrial TV and then both Virgin and Sky can kiss my bum if they think they'll be getting any money out of me for HD TV!!

tell them your going toleave let them give you a cancellation date then wait a couple of weeks and they will come crawling,we did this about 2 years ago,not only did we get the box free but we don't pay the £10 monthly fee, and we also got an upgraded tv package. Good luck !!

also there only seems to be one HD channel available and thats BBC HD when its actually on, do you know of other channels ?

When you cancel, do they call you back to crawl back your money and sign you up?
or do I need to call them inside 2 weeks.?

There is only the BBC HD channel which seems to repeat stuff over and over but I think you can watch other HD stuff in the TV on demand section.

Thanks for your advice - I'll have a think about it - knwing my luck they'll just let me cancel and then I'll end up crawling back to them:roll:

no plans for any more HD channels as far as I know.
    HD is a sky thang

its worth a try, but we've done it twice and both times they called so go for it,you've nothing to lose.
