    SKY+: Copying 'viewed' programmes

I wonder if anyone can help, as SKY's help section is cobblers.

I've been copying stuff off my SKY+ box onto my Archos 605 and then transferring them onto my computer. It's going pretty well apart from the pIN protection which can be a pain.

Anyway, last night I realised I don't get the option to COPY if the programme is marked as VIEWED. Bit of a pain.

Does anyone know a work around that wouldn't involve me having to copy the programme at the same time as watching it?

    Cheers

Joe - cant help you with your query - sorry but i am interested in how you copy off sky +. Can you share the very basics please mate? Presume you mess with the outputs at the back??

Id assume he plays the programme on his sky+ box with the archos connected up via the the outputs of the box and simply records it in real time as you would with a video recorder, the downside is that a 2 hour film would take 2 hours to copy, so the process would be time consuming.

would be intresting wasant aware there was a mod for sky

I load up three or four films to copy and leave it over night, then split the one recording down into its individual parts

It's pretty simple. You simply plug your recording device (VCR, DVD, whatever) into the inputs on the back of the sky box.

From the sky planner you go to what you want to copy and press RED.
If you're only do programme you can just record it in real time, but the COPY function lets you load up a few things to copy off in one go

You can do this directly onto a USB memory stick as well, 8gb stick will hold about 4-6 hours of recording ;-)

    How?

I'd be interested in finding out how this works too?

    OK, scrub it.

It seems you CAN copy viewed programmes. The issue i was having was because I'd moved the show from Anytime TV to my planner. Thats why I couldn't copy it.

If you're referring to the USB socket at the front, that doesn't work. I understand that was designed for some SKY specific purpose that has never materialised.

But please let me know if you can get it to work. I'm sure a lot of people would be interested.

    Ok next daft question!

If you could download a film / programme to your PS3, could you then transfer it to a memory stick as the PS3 has the Card slot on the front?

Then would this mean you could put the card in to a PSP and then watch it there?

    Or am i just nuts?

Sometimes the 'Copy' Function does not appear for new movies out, as there is probably some copyright issue with Sky allowing users to copy it off the box
