    Sky Multiroom Channels.... opps

    Ok.. so basically we have multiroom, since we had it installed I have had Setanta and sky sports switched on.. But neither of them work and since the Sky helpline is useless and no one is answering. I thought someone here might know if theres a way I can do it myself or if sky need to activate something.. (other than their telephones).

    Have you tried all the basics like turn off the receiver for 60 seconds, take the card out and make sure the chip is clean by gently rubbing it on something like a cotton t-shirt, make sure that the card is in the right way (ie chip first and facing down)?

    yea.. the channels we had switched on originally work.. Its just the ones we had put on after it was installed.. A message comes up saying its the incorrect card for the box.

    ok, then as far as I know, the only way is to phone them up unfortunately. Never a pleasant thing to do, I've spent many a 30 minute call to them.

    what software version is on box?

    go to Services, 4 (System Setup) and 5 (System Details) and report what EPG Version the Box is running?

    Banned

    Setanta only activate one viewing card therefore you will have setanta on your main box but not your multi-room box.

    Costs extra for both boxes.

    alternative is to swap your viewing card - unless you want to view Santana on both

    normal box

    perform a forced software download on the receiver by holding the backup button on the front of receiver while plugging into the mains, you should get a message on the screen to say software download

    It sounds like you will have to phone sky and pair your card to the multi-room box.. All the non premium channels will work without the card being paired..
    Was the multiroom box fitted by sky?. If so they should of done this..

    Try phoning them on the landline number. Might be quicker..01506 831609

    yea was fitted by sky... The first box we had broke... And was replaced. Could this be the problem

    nothing happened.... lol

    I have added sky landline number in my post up above. This really sounds like your card needs to be paired up.. I know it should of by sky.. Try the card in your other box and see if you get the same message..

    connect the telephone line and then go into the install menu and do a new installation, this will pair a new card to a receiver and send the box details serial number and card number to sky.

    this worked fine for me when i bought a sky hd receiver from Ebay and a multiroom card i received from sky without any issue

    yep it will need to be paired by sky i had to do it with my muti room box even tho the engineer said he had done it
