I have been with virgin for as many years as i can remember, never had a days prob and the customer service is great.
i get my phone and broadband but not tv

Cant get Virgin here..........so I'm with Sky (he says through gritted teeth while tryin to be positive) and would have to recommend them....But just a little bit. If Virgin ever get out here then probably them.

My mate has the Virgin HD service, and I have the Sky +HD service, comparing the two (both on nice 40" Samsungs) the Sky picture quality seems better to me - not just because I have it. However the Virgin box does offer more services i.e BBC iplayer etc.

You wll fnd good and bad wth both but go with Virgin if you have cable because it is the best broadband option

A little tight at first but worth perservering with

virgin...but dont do it where i've just moved to so had to get Sky which is a nightmare...took me over 4 weeks to get set up because they've done TV, then phone, and waiting for broadband.

TV - Prefer Virgin for bbc iplayer and also can record from 2 channels whilst watchin a 3rd(can only do 2 channels if your watching one of them(whats the point of that??)). Although the HD channels are better on Sky (although they do cost £10 a month more to get them)

Phone - dont think much difference in them TBH

Broadband - Sky can only offer 4Mb service but i was getting 20Mb with Virgin.

Plus...Sky have 0844 numbers to call...but Virgin have 150 from handset.

Virgins on demand is fantastic, better than the tv programmes on. Hbo, warner and iplayer etc. Well worth the money alone. Had the chance of a better sky deal but stayed with virgin. (also free espn).

this question should be a sticky as should the "should I get a PS3 or a 360"!

    ok ...sticking to the topic:-

1 - for no download limits including no capping of download speeds EVER = SKY
2 - for tv my personal choice is Virgin (just because you can get sky as well on their boxes)
3 - For sticking to pricing and not randomly increasing monthly cost = SKY
4 - Customer Service = neither (both equally as bad)
    5 - For AIO (all in one packages i.e. internet/phone/tv) = SKY

    hope this helps
depends what you're gonna use it for

seems virgin is the preferred one.

will cancel sky tomorrow as they usually need 1 month notice, just checked the virgin media website, it's free installation, hope the installation is swift and painless.

    thanks for the input.

merry Christmas and Happy New year.... (am I too early to start wishing?)

    I prefer a Virgin.

I've used both. I've had far more problems with Sky. The worst incident was when I was foolish enough not to cancel direct debit after leaving them, and they continued charging me for three months. I spent ages on the phone sorting it out, and after they'd accepted they'd made a mistake, they proceeded to pass my "debt" on to a debt collection agency who sent me a threatening letter. After I sent threatening letters back to Sky and agency, I still had to wait ages for refund, and got no apology. I've always found Virgin customer services quite helpful, especially one time when I had to downgrade after I'd lost my job; they were very understanding and quite helpful. Having said all that, I should add that I've just cancelled tv package with Virgin in order to take advantage of Sky's family and friends offer with free Sky HD. I feel like a hypocrite, but it was just too good an offer to resist.
