Sky Q existing customers 1tb box £15/ 2 tb box £30

Found 3rd Oct 2016
I rang to cancel sky and when I was put through to retentions the guy offered sky q for a one off £15 charge for the one tb box or £30 for the two tb box. These boxes are leased ( no extra charge other than your current price plan) and so will be repaired as part of sky's service.

whatever your plan is on already.

Sloth/Mod

Moved to misc as a heads up/tip as this isn't a guaranteed deal. With these offers it depends on who you get on the phone, the length of time you've been with them etc.

how many boxes do you have on sky atm

Anyone else finding the touch pad remote annoying?

You can do this online much easier,

go to sky.com/sky…ild

and log in to your account and you will be presented with this screen (excuse the glitches my full page capture struggles with some HTML5 pages)

Yes, very annoying. Think I might revert to the controller with the buttons rather than the touch pad.

Yes pretty annoying, using the standard controller. Put the touch one back in the box.

With Virgin Tivo when you watch catch up tv it was effectively just streamed the programme (as it should be), with Sky Q it seems to download it? So even if i'm watching it whilst downloading I then have to go back to deleting it after finishing. Is there any way round this or it's just how it is?

Very much prefer Tivo than Sky Q really even if it's slower.

An engineer came and changed the black/white box bit on the end of my dish, not sure what it's done though

When i went to look it added £12/month to my subscription for multiscreen. Didn't seem to be any way of opting out of multiscreen

i would imagine he has changed the LNB so it gets more feeds

I saw this offer earlier with £12 monthly multiscreen and 12 month contract. How did you got it without multiscreen and contract? Was that available online for you or offered only by advisor?

Actually, Sky Q boxes only require two satellite feeds as they use wide band tuners, This allows two dish feeds to supply multiple tuners within the box.

They do need to change the LNB on the dish to a wide band model or possibly a hybrid if you have other (none Sky Q) satellite receivers using the dish - this LNB will have both normal and wideband outputs. The cabling stays the same though, when we had ours installed in May the cable from the dish was never changed.

Only had it installed yesterday, but liking it so far. Does everyone get 2 remotes? Only ask as we were given the touch remote and the button one. One each for me and the wife, no more squabbling

nothing showing in mine

yeh we got two remotes also, but I just find the touch pad too sensitive, slippery to hold and the +/- channel button in a too low position as to where my hands naturally sit. it's probably just me, I'm sure I'll get used to it

Engineer visit needed:
(1) Change the Dish and LNB (the standard one is 2 outputs -all you need for Sky Q; but the Hybrid is 6 outputs, if you spare old Sky Boxes)
(2) To swap over your card, initialise and install
(3) To test the signal strength from your Sky Q to Sky Q Mini (if you have multi-room)
(4) To install Booster if needed for 3 above.
