Sky Remote and External Speakers

I have a Panasonic 37" plasma and Sky HD. The sound out of the tv is OK but some programmes (especially some American shows) can be muffled no matter what settings I use.

I'm assuming that I can get some external speakers to plug into the TV/Sky box but is there any way to control the volume with the Sky remote rather than yet another remote control clogging up the lounge?

I was thinking something like the Ebuyer soundbar on Hotdeals the other day - is it possible to program the speaker volume control into the Sky remote rather than the TV's volume? Or, is the tv's speaker output still volume controllable?

Sorry if I sound like an idiot but I can't work out if I can do this or not.

I suggest a digital amp and surround speakers, HDTV's aren't meant to be used with their inbuilt speakers really.

Check out so you use the SkyHD optical output on a digital amp, plenty of bundle offers there.

I have a Panasonic 37" Plasma too. Im using a set of Edifier speakers on my set up at the moment. Everybody should have a set of external speakers hooked up to their TV/DVD?Sky ALL TV speakers are rubbish. You will improve your listening pleasure 100 fold by attaching an external set. Most, if not all, PC speakers are suitable, you dont have to spend a fortune to great sound from your TV.

Thanks guys - I know I need to get better speakers but, if possible, I want to control the volume with the sky remote (like I already do on the TV). Is it possible or am I stuck with yet another remote just for the volume?

It is possible to use just one of the remotes that will control channel change and volume, but I cant remember which remote it is...Im sure its the Sky remote. But, in any case, it should be possible.
