    Sky remote up the pictures

...anyone know how to take it apart, had an 'attempt' yesterday, but I seem to have mashed the sides up a bit.

If I can't repair, anyone know the cheapest place to get a new one? It's the standard type (not Sky + )

    Thanks all

Think theirs some screws in the battery apartment, remove them to open the case,if it dont work with your sky box perhaps it neads reseting, the box and remote have to match, cant remeber how you do it suggest goggle it thats what went wrong with mine

ill have a look i think i have one just pay postage if i can find it

If you need to open a sky remote:

    1. Remove the battery compartment and batteries.
    2. Remove screw.
    3. Remove the infra-red cover at the top of the remote (turn the remote upside -down and apply pressure away from the remote).
    4. Remove screw.

The two halves should separate with little effort.

I've taken apart a fair few Sky Remotes due to spillages. Cleaning them is easy once you get them open.

    SERIOUSLY:

Put all the parts into a bowl of hot soapy water (yes, including the main PCB!)
Use a toothbrush (or nailbrush) to give everything a good scrub.
Dry with paper towel first off, then use a hairdryer on all the parts to remove all moisture. Spend about 5 minutes on the PCB itself to ensure all moisture is completely evaporated.
    Reassemble and enjoy

I did forget one thing tho - to separate you slide the two halves in opposite directions - this releases the tabs
