this is what you can do,... written in the dailymail.

Usually when a line rental price hike is announced, existing customers who are in the middle of a contract are able to leave early without having to pay a penalty if they're not happy paying the increased cost.
To do this there is normally a 30-day window in which customers need to inform the provider in order to leave without paying the fee.

I wish I could have broadband without phone line rental. I've been paid for the line rental and never made a phone call.

You'd still pay line rental as you are paying for the connection to the equipment, not for phone service. The line rental covers maintenance & running costs of the line, the exchange and the overall network.

Never gonna get away from line rental.

Renegotiated my contract with them in December, currently paying £10/m for line rental, asked cs about possible increase in the year, and was told not for foreseeable future so will see if I get email from them. VM currently charging £19/m, what a joke!!! Was with them a long time ago, when i tried to cancel my TV package, was offered freeview (!) on their box for a fee!!! No wonder Branson's a millionaire oO

Branson has no stake in vm anymore

Sky (£17.40) are still cheaper than BT (£18.99). Only just had a deal with Sky and got half price line rental and half price fibre. I'll wait and see what the hike is before I do anything

I hate sky and it's owners as much as anyone but does kodi REALLY compare to sky's overall experience? Eg pic quality, reliability etc? I have kodi also but always find myself faffing around trying to find a good stream and constant updating of configuration details when certain sites/servers are shut down. Just my experience but would be really happy to find of better alternatives using kodi!

Same, after being with them 4 years, no retention deal ..cya sky lol

I cancelled in December they wanted 92 a month for line rental, fibre Internet unlimited, HD tv with sky sports and movies plus box sets.

Got a letter 2 weeks later offering me it for 80. Went online to Web chat said I can't afford more than 70. They offered me the same package for 70 immediately.

You're still over-paying.... If you'd waited a bit longer you'd have got it down under £50.

I looked online I couldn't get those channels in HD with fibre Internet cheaper anywhere.

It's been confirmed for me via sky live chat "I've checked your account and see that you've been given fixed £15 deal for 12 months which will not be changed after the price rise. If it would have been in percentages, then it would have been changed. However, be assured that it won't increase after price rise and it'll remain the same"
I joined sky BB first week in December for 12 months this is my payment information
Sky Broadband Unlimited - including discounts FREE
Sky Talk Line Rental - including discounts
    Sky Talk Line Rental £17.40
Sky Talk Line Rental Discounted - £2.40
    Total £15.00

Think it depends on how long you have been with them and what your worth, we regularly order movies bumping our spend with Sky up. We cancelled, nothing, waited nothing, then called two days before disconnection. I explained the options other people had been getting and asked were they available to me, was told they would have a look and they come back and said yes 50% off is available on our account but better on offer if I took phone and broadband. I took the half price deal as I know Sky can only offer BT wholesale on our exchange.

Sometimes, if you don't ask, you don't get.

The good thing is thoigh, that you can always ring the retention number yourself if they don't ring you

The thing with sky is that people who subscribe and pay over the odds, order films, pay for multi room, extra channels etc are the ones less likely to leave or cancel. Sky knows that, that is why they don't try to keep them. They don't need to.

Now people who pay for basic channels, have broadband discounted etc they are the ones which will move to another company or cancel subscription without thinking twice. They don't care. They are the ones sky does everything to keep, giving more discounts etc
