Found 10th Mar 2010
I have an xBox 360 and we have sky Tv downstairs. We have a wireless connection between the router and my xbox. However the sky tv i can get is either very poo quality or laggy. It states i need a better connection.
Now any advice on how to improve my connection would be very appreciated.
Do I need to get a better internet provider? (currently tiscali 2mb i think...?)
Should I switch to homeplugs? (If so what are they and how do they work?)
Any other suggestions.... thank you =)

never had a problem with the quality of the streaming through the 360. I get a better pic watching the football via sky player than I get on freeview.

i stopped watching it on xbox because it was so poor (picture quality) dont know how people actually subscribe in this way

id say its your broadband rather than internal network.

Never had a problem with it being laggy/bad quality, Using Vm 50mb

but as Dandoc2 says, Home Plugs is the only thing i can think of to improve the service

but i also do think 2mb is abit low.

If you can get cable i would suggest Virgin Media 10mb Service

If you actually want 20mb and not "Upto 20mb"

Then

£25ish a month from Virgin Media

I have Everything XL with virgin media and costs me £60ish a month

haaa, just found out i have a download speed of :
Download= 0.95Mb/s
Upload= 0.22Mb/s

This might be why i have the lag? haha =)

yea everywhere i see says up to, and with BT i would of been able to get 6Mb/s even though i'd of been paying for "up to 20mb/s" . Any provider that actually will be able to provide me 20mb or 15mb or even 10mb...?

Bt/Talktalk can offer upto 20mb but you wont get it.

Only company i know that is good for dl speeds via phone line is

Be There / o2

If you live in a cable area and want a reliable speed then Vm

Here is my 50mb Speed (Peak times remember)

Download: 50.71Mb/s
Upload: 1.65Mb/s
speedtest.net/res…png

I use to have problems with Virgin Media when i was on 10mb / 20mb packages at peak times but when i got 50mb i have always been above 50mb never been below it and had it over 2 months now

might sort out lag but wont make a bit of diff to picture quality

If you don't have a good enough connection for sky player it downgrades the picture quality.

Is any one having problem with Catch TV (On demand) on SKY XBOX 360? I can watch Live Tv but throws an error if I want to watch On Demand?

leave it a while and try again.

its usally because of high amount of users trying to access it at the same time

same problem for the last 5 days:cry:
