I have been with NTL/Virgin media for 10 years and currently have their VIP package. XL internet, XL phone, HD box and a standard box with all the main channels including sky sports and movies (just not the HD ones)
I am thinking of moving to sky though, however may keep my internet with Virgin and not have a phone line as I never use it.
Anyone know of any deals or the best way to do it. I dont use the internet much and never for big downloads, just standard surfing so may reduce all my packages.
Any suggestions.

With sky or virgin?

With anyone, to have the Internet you need a dedicated phone line

ok so i can have a basic internet and phone with Virgin and then a tv package with Sky

You dont have to have the virgin phone to have the broadband, as long as your in the right area + it costs slightly more

Best idea in my opinion is to go with a sky package as they can be dirt cheap if your a low internet user as you say. The broadband and phone package for me (unlimited broadband and anytime calls) is free for the first six months and then £10 thereafter HOWEVER you then get a £5 discount for having both so its £5.
Ive also got the full HD package in one room (ive got return sockets in my apartment so dont need multi room) including sports and movies and i pay £28.50 now and after the 6 months is up it will be £33.50

the only issue i have with moving my internet is having to get rid of the email address otherwise I would easily move it all

hmm that is an issue i agree, i was with virgin in my last house but when i moved they didnt serve this area! Brand new build apartments but no virgin media!
However, my parents are self employeed and have a website with email addresses. Ive had an email address from them as long as i can remember so changing providers is never an issue for me regarding emails

and garbage is right id have stuck with virgin if i really could but they dont serve my area. When i moved they said i could have basic phone and broadband but the best they could offer me for tv was a free freeview box! Thanks virgin! lol

Sky half price deals pop up a few times a year - might be worth waiting until then. The number of tuners garbage456 mentioned is only relevant if you use the Sky+ or V+ box.

I am with VM and get the best deals by cancelling and waiting for them to call me during my 30 day notice period.
I have always managed to get free V+ boxes as well as other equiptment and huge discounts.

Also consider the cost benefits if you go through Quidco or similar to join Sky.
