slow connection to online banking help

Hi I have recently bought a new computer which is running on vista, I am having trouble connecting to online banking with Halifax. I am wireless but have no trouble connecting to any oher sites. To check my banking I have to keep going back to the previous page and then retrying. Anybody got any ideas why this is??

it might be the bank website on a slow i get that sometimes with llodstsb as so many poeple are on the same time

Sounds like you may have a virus , if you are using AVG get a proper virus checker like norton or mcaffee

There's nothing wrong with AVG at all.

Do a scan to make sure you have no spyware/adware though. If that's all clean it's possibly just the site. Maybe check with another browser?

try Google Chrome if your up for changing ur browser, much faster.

Firefox is also good, but not as quick as Google Chrome. Both free, and quicker than Internet Explorer.

Halifax working fine for me today

Tried them both, found Norton to be useless and just didn't like McAfee. I have a PC engineer friend who tells everyone to use AVG free, says its better than most you pay for.

    supermod

It may have changed, but Halifax used to need full cookie access, not just per session cookies like most other online financial sites. It may be that the new PC has different default security settings possibly ? Go with mugglesquop's suggestion & then check security settings possibly ? Be careful of using the button & then resubmitting as this can lead to duplicate transactions though. Hope you can get it sorted out :).

Yep, So resource intensive, Causing slowdown of pc, A Virus could have a similar effect, Norton 360 isn't as resource intensive but about as good at detecting virus's and spyware as Microsoft is at making operating systems.

Yes, I've heard good things about that one too, and bitdefender. Never tried them though. I've never had problems with AVG free, guess its courses for horses
