    Irish Stew?

i always do curry in mine the meat falls apart yum. use pataks paste onions what choice of meat you want maybe some chopped tomatoes abit of water and add coconut milk to get the right strenght you want.

    Pot roast.
chunky veg and a nice bit of roasting beef put some gravy over the veg put the beef on top and leave.
The meat will be so tender.

    lamb shanks.
any cheap cut of meat really.
Oxtail works really well and abit different.

pork ribs! Make a bbq sauce (tons of recipes online), put the ribs and sauce into the cooker and leave it for hours. When theyre cooked, the meat almost slides off the bones its so tender. Yummy!

at the mo im at home all day, but just wondered if i could make use of one for chunky soups and stews, as i said i hated this stuff as a kid, but its a cheap meal if you can use cheaper pieces of meat, we dont have alot of meat cause the better stuff is dear and we dont like cheap crap

Especially with beef you can make the cheapest cut taste as good / tender as the dearest in a slow cooker.

Can't get any easier than cooking stew in a slow cooker, chuck it all in leave it, eat it. Simple.

The ribs idea sounds right up my street.

The cheapest cuts of meat are best in Slow cookers, e.g. Brisket can be chewy but in a slow cooker it is amazingly tender and also has a lot more flavour than more expensive cuts. More expensive cuts tend to dry out if you cook them too long. My best mate hates stews and casseroles but after cooking her that she asks me to make it every time she is over for dinner.

top tip - make sure any vegetables are cut LARGE and go in last and never pre-cook them. I still find that even then they still are way too mushy if slow cooker in on over 6 hours. I like my veg al dente

I chuck mine in an hour before I eat with a bit more stock if I'm about to do it.

Snail casserole, can't get much slower than that. It is a real dish recipe ]here. When I lived in Switzerland years ago, whenever it rained heavily the roads would be covered in giant snails and the Spanish staff would go out and collect bags of them and make an amazing slow cooked provencale casserole with them.

so you're saying you cook the meat for a good few hours, then just add the veg an gour before you want to eat?

that's strange. my books say to put the veg in at the same time as the meat, and sit the meat on top. as the veg takes the longest to cook. veg has never come out mushy...the meat is too tender for my likeing tho.
