Anyone?

What are you looking to use it for?
By saying small laptop do you mean a Netbook?

Well, I guess its a netbook. I need it for the train ride.
I need it for excel and words. Is a tablet with Bluetooth keyboard a good alternative?

Something like these would probably be good choices as much more ruggedised than consumer grade laptops.

X201 with 250gb hard disk.

Same again but with an 80gb solid state drive.

Batteries are quite cheap for these laptops and so are parts so you can easily make repairs or upgrade the battery if you need more run time. Personally I'd be going for the first option as it's the better value for money option.

These would also be a good deal faster than any netbook you might look at, battery life gram for gram will be similar. Also with netbooks be careful about them as you will find some offer a 1024x600 screen resolution which in my experience is near unworkable especially for office based tasks.

The question is probably worth checking to see if a chromebook is the sort of thing you are after, if you find chromebooks as a whole are no good then it discounts a chunk of the market. Might be worth visiting a PC retailer to try one and see if the limitations are acceptable to you. For many they are very good but have limited ability when not connected to the cloud (something our nations trains are very good at avoiding letting you have any internet access in my experience).

You might want to settle on a few other requirements such as sizes etc as there are so many options you could take some time. I'd get writing a list of things you need it to have and things you'd like in terms of features. Then use that to guide your search.

Thank you for advice.
I don't know if I actually can use office on those little netbooks.
Ideally I would need to be able to work offline on word or excel.

you can use the Netbook for office, but you would have to keep the page on zoom with the ribbon unpinned.
