if its a dead pixel you might be covered if its in the middle, if its near the edge they might say its within limits

Just gone onto paint to try and draw a dot, show you where it is, but I can still see the dot and the white glow dissapears:?

Have a look at static.ebuyer.com/cus…mFx
What they have stated there really only applies if you were claiming under manufacturers warranty.
Instead of doing that, as your monitor is under 6 months old you would be better off claiming a replacement from the retailer under Sale of Goods Act. This is because up to 6 months it is up to them to prove it wasn't defective at time of purchase. In practice I expect the retailer will point you in the direction of those ISO standards saying it's not faulty. If that's the case, lodge a county court claim. Decision will probably be in your favour as they problaly won't be able to prove fault was there at time of purchase.

OP has stated its 'bashed around a little', theres a chance it would be deemed as negligence or misuse (which is true).
as for going to court over it, the retailer will need to obtain proof that it wasnt abused or misused, which the OP has stated it has been, a little at least.
if this is he cause of the problem, the sale of goods act will NOT be your friend.

am fed up with people thinking the sale of goods act is both an extended warranty or a way of treating your products like sh*t and claiming they werent fit for purpose.

No physical damage. I just transport it a lot, I look after it best I can but the many bumps my daily journey has means it's near impossible for it not the be bashed a little.

impact damage to the screen from the top of the lid can cause effects on an LCD screen where it splits but has no physical damage to the outer layer of the perspex.
you'd have to let them examine the laptop and if they deem it was down to impact damage from it not being transported carefully enough, you're stuffed.

if they deem its a fault with the screen, you're already covered under warranty.
within the first 6 months, they need to prove the fault was caused by a manufacturing defect, but they are within their rights to ask to examine the laptop first.
otherwise how are they supposed to determine the proper cause?

if they werent allowed to see the laptop, people would just be claiming new ones left and right for any excuse, accidental or genuine fault.

it should go back to the retailer, be examined, if they deem it a fault and repair or replace it, good, if they don't and deem it to be misuse, you could try to fight it with an engineers report stating the problem and in their opinion, the most likely cause.
if the retailer doesnt agree, then it would go to a small claims court.

the sale of goods act is to protect retailers too, not just buyers.

Quite a good page here that covers the basics:

depends on the make of it, if they will give you it....
look here at the "Manufacturer policy" ]http//en…xel
Some compaines will only replace if you have 3 stuck pixels in a 5x5 pixel area, and there is a difference between a dead and stuck pixel.... you can download videos from the net that can (sometimes) fix broken pixels to if you do a google

This might help to

* Had a quick look here is one that fixes HOT pixels, which is what your one sounds like a white one, dont know if it is any good but worth a shot as all of them fix them in a similar way ]http//ww…spx

sounds like you may have picked it up via the screen so your thumb has damaged it.

it will be damaged for good and doubt warranty would cover misuse of this type. I did the same to my portable dvd player.

Not good, only had the laptop a couple of months.
It's not that noticeable at least, seems to be easier to see against grey and white.
Against black you can't see it :?
