Smarty Mobile ‘sim only’ stuck on 3G?

Hi everyone,

My brother has been with Smarty for a while and I’ve been so busy, just never got to sorting this out for him. He was using an iPhone 7 but now on an iPhone X that I handed down to him.

Both iPhone’s shows 3G and has been never on 4G, I’ve checked all the APN settings and mobile data settings - all looks good to me. I spoke to Smarty and they were pretty useless. They asked for my postcode and said oh you’re in an area that we are upgrading to 5G so you’ll likely be on 3G...

Thing is we’ve been out travelling (before lockdown) and it’s the same old 3G wherever we go!

just wondering if anyone else came across the same issue?
