    So is it incredibly sad........

That I have over 1300 dvds, actually its well over 2400 discs, but dvds themselves in films and boxsets, I swear its almost becoming a collection obsession.

    But is it you know.....sad?

Thats madness, i have never watched the same film twice, You could have bought a nice car,
In fact most of the films you own are probably on TV by now,

    yes ..........

    Yes

Especially as you have counted them!!!! :w00t:

    :giggle::giggle:

Sounds as though you may be collecting them for collecting sake.

If you had say 1,000 films, if you watched one a day it would take you over 3 years to watch them all.

Are you ever going to do that?

And with so many films available on TV (particularly if you have Sky Movies) then it is hardly worth owning DVDs any more.

Once you have seen them you know the ending,

It's not sad if u enjoy your collection. I always find large collections of games/DVDs etc. Pretty impressive, and not only is it unique, it's your own.

I don't have Sky TV at all, only Freeview and its awful quality, And yup I was collecting them when employed and never watching them, but since losing my job, I've been watching a lot of them

It's worse, I have a big old list of them, indexed alphabetically and detailing how many discs and running times, gawd help me

I don't actually own 1 dvd, like the above poster I can count on one hand the amount of films I have watched more than once.

Each to their own though, i dare say we all do things that others would find strange.

It's no worse than spending it on fags or booze, at least you have something to show for it.

No wonder your name is draped in darkness, You need to open the curtains and go outside,

    Thank you

I certainly do enjoy them, and i have watched the Day The earth Stood Still countless times, always entertains me (Not the horrible Keanu Reeves version)

I have six stands of dvds, including special editions along a special shelf, kinda gives me a buzz to see it all if i'm honest :whistling:

when you watch a film again though can notice differnet things that you didnt see first time around.

I would probably give it 6 months or so though inbetween watching a film otherwise I tend to remember exactly what happened, where as after 6 months I find that my memory is kinda sketchy so I watch the film and im like OH YEAAAH that happened lol

Seriously though its your money and i can think of a lot worse things to spend it on,
Now dont get me started on cigarettes,

Exactly, I rewatched some films I hated at first and on second and third viewings I appreciated the back story more in the scheme of the film itself

Forrest Gump is a perfect example of this, i watched it when it first came out when i was about 12/13, since then i must have seen it at least 20 times but i still find something i didn't see before, or a reference i didn't get.

What about books? Does the same apply for that?

Only films i would say i will never watch again are Usual Suspects and 6th Sense.

    yup

namely a film ive just rewatched is Leon

watched it first time I was like wtf was this hype about

watched it again thought it was awesome, sometimes films do need a couple of views

as some have said above, things like cigarettes etc you dont have anything to show for it except a shorter life lol, at least with the DVDs you can have a collection to go back on and watch when theres nothing on tv, ok granted they wont be worth what you paid for them but in reality you could still get money back for them and invest them into something else etc. Theres probs plenty of people that buy stuff they use once or buy spontaneously i.e clothes but each to their own with their money i guess

not sad at all , i've probably more if i counted them

    Exactly right. Same with music.

We all have those moments in life where a lyric finally makes sense because we experienced something similar.

Purely because i feel those two films 'exist' because of the twist, and are, as F+F says a journey from A to B. Re-watching it i don't think i would gain that much. But you never know.

With the Usual Suspects, it actually loses something in repeat viewing, the plot threads that get flashed on at the end don't really hold up with multiple viewings, shows too many coincidences for a great plan.

Sixth Sense for me remains a great study in how to make a good film, it still works well on repeated viewing

How many of these films have you watched more than once,
    1. Shawshank Redemption (Seen around 20 times, yes 20, favourite film of all time).
    2. Star Wars
    3. Jaws
    4. The Dark Knight
    5. Raiders Of The Lost Ark
    6. The Matrix
    7. Monty Pythons Life Of Brian
    8. Die Hard
    9. Mary Poppins
    10. The Bourne Identity
