ooooops sorry i always get mixed up with moaning and elation, meant to say how gutted i am its blown but how elated i am i was able to buy earlex:thumbsup:

Not used a wallpaper stripper for years and that was a professional one.
Is there a 'cut off' when it gets too hot or has it given up the ghost completely.

when the water drops below a level it cuts out, but it wont restart ,it says just to refill and it should restart in 20 mins, there are no buttons or anything, i have changed the fuse in the plug incase it had blown and checked to make sure it is not the socket, and it wont come back in so it obviously blown the element:x only got it on tuesday and this is the second time i used it, exacty the same happened to the other i got last week

God i be annoyed too,I personally don't like decorating so when thinsg go wrong I be well annoyed.
Maybe you just aswell save yourcash and get yourself a bucket of warm soapy water and sponge onto wall instead.

the area i am stripping is woodchip that has been painted over many times and its a nightmare getting it off, but with stripper its fab when it chuffin works but i have to keep relying on my sister to take me back to get another, well fed up:oops:

Hope I'm not trying to teach you to 'suck eggs'

The only other way is to score the wood-chip with the edge of your scraper, be careful not to damage the plaster.
This will enable the soapy water to penetrate the paint and help lift the wallpaper away from the wall. Also give it time to allow the wallpaper to soak up the soapy water, It will be a lot easier if you do.

It's still not an easy job but at least you will be able to carry on with the decorating.

Hire one out as they are generally heavy duty strippers.

Just paint over the top as everybody else did. I think you are been told something by them breaking, the wall is happy as it is!

You can thank me for my help when your ready!:p

Yeh I recall you mentioned woodchip in your original thread about this, the longer its been on and the more its been painted over the worst it is to get off.

it gives me 60 minutes steam time, and i aint gonna be climbing up and down ladder ever 10 minutes to turn it off wait 5 minutes to fill it up to do another 10 minutes steaming, the safety feature - lmao, some safety feature think its knackered cause its blown the element not because of a safety feature:roll:

Try and connect the hose to the kettle...assuming that works :? You can then 'whistle' through it in no time! :whistling:

Now that's just cruel with Sassie's record on whistling kettles...

Where can you get decaff screens? ;-):p

I would just like to say I have had an Earlex steamer for over 10 years, still going strong, went through a victorian house three storeys of woodchip, then sent to father in laws and various friends, now back here...70 minutes run time....stop, fill it up, make coffee, turn back on and drink coffee until up to heat...70 minutes stripping and repeat.
Also, to save damaging the plaster...I use a new wire brush and spend time scoring the paper first.
Seems to be stripping week on here, you, sassie, us...I don't mind stripping, its painting newly plastered ceilings I hate.
