So everyday for the last 2 years we get at least 1 call a day for a Mr Price. Despite telling the prats at the other end of the phone there is no one of that name on this number and that under Data Protection laws I want them to remove my number from their database etc etc. to no avail.

Well about two weeks ago (after being prescribed Tramadol for a severely painful trapped nerve) I'm surfing the net when I get a call from one of these companies doing a survey. What the hell I thought, lets wind this guy up a little bit.

I tell him there is no one called price on this number. He says never mind how about if I would spare a little time to complete a survey, OK i say. here's the gist of what happens:

Agent: Would you confirm your surname please?
Me: Brown.
Agent: May I take your first name please?
Me: Gordon.
Agent: Date of Birth please.
Me: 20th Feb 1951
Agent: can i have your address including post code?
Me: 10 Downing Street, London SW1A 2AA
Agent: What is your occupation sir?
Me: Manager of UK corporation.
Agent: May I ask who you bank with?
Me: Bank of England.

The agent then goes through some "survey" questions and then asks, Do you receive any Benefits?
Me: Yes.
Agent: Which benefits do you receive?
Me: I receive ALL the Benefits like Income Tax, VAT, Stamp Duty, Import & Export Tax, Council Tax, Inheritance Tax and several others.

By now I am nearly PMSL, but barely holding on.

Then the agent asks if I would be interested in some free energy saving bulbs, I say "why not I, get everything else for free."

He then asks if it would be OK for them to share my information to which I reply "sure you can call me any time, or just drop me a letter, you have my address."

The call is ended, and I finally get to PMSL.

BUT TWO DAYS LATER:

Agent: Hi I am calling from Sky, is that Mr Brown?
Me: Yes.
Agent: The Gordon Brown?
Me: Yes.
Agent: wow, I just like to say what a great job I think you are doing sir!
Me: Well thankyou very much. I couldn't do it without YOUR hard earned money, I have to go and run the show now. bye.

I had one more call for Gordon Brown after that, BUT NO MORE CALLS SINCE.

Oh happy days!

I know it was a bit naughty to do that but I achieved my goal. Sorry Mr Brown.

BTW the first agent who called was from a call centre in India, I guess he must have been living under a rock. FFS imagine not knowing who Gordon Brown at 10 Downing Street is! lol

Good Night guys n gals, the Tramadols starting to wear off, gotta go get another fix and hit the sack.

Yeah, but I'm wondering if he ever got the bulbs.

Don't do this for double glazing - you will be called daily until you expire and then the new people taking over will get 2 calls a day - from the person who cancelled and the new person taking your details from a database which dials automatically.

Ask them to put you on "Do not Disturb" - this they are obliged to comply with or risk penalties. That's the theory anyway...

Good night Mr Brown, I think you're doing very well - thought you looked down recently on TV. Now, how many free windows would you like installed?

I'm impressed you just happened to know his date of birth and full address including postcode of the top of your head.

...are you sure you are not really Mr Brown anyway? It's a bit worrying you would know his date of birth and postcode! It might have been the Taliban checking you were at home! (best put a chain on your dooor!)

It's made up. It didn't really happen, and also was extremely unfunny.

lmao - that was awesome - I'm taking Tramadols at the moment, so roll on the next cold call - BT have been a pain recently so they will be first on hit list - But I think I will be a Mr J Terry lodging at a Mrs C Cole's house :whistling:

I'm assuming everyone knows about ]these guys by now?

It did happen. The clue is in the OP. I was surfing the Net when they called and Google is your best friend.

TBH I reckon Gordon Brown is extremely unpopular ATM, not even Cold Callers want to talk to him! lol
