No, but you should so people keep their distance

It's to let others know that you're still liable to drive erratically:whistling::p

No, you don't need them.

You are required by law to display red 'L' plates whilst learning to drive. Once you have passed your test you may also chose to display green 'P' plates whilst driving. Although these aren't mandatory, they do allow other drivers on the road to still treat you with caution when you first hit the roads on your own.

Yeah. Yes, you do:whistling::p

the collection of rules imposed by authority

I wonder how long it will be until you HAVE to display P plates etc by law up to a year after your test...

Failure to do so will result in more revenue to the Government.

Supermod

No you do not have to display a green "P". I tend to find that some drivers are as impatient with "P" bearing cars as they are with "L" bearing cars.

If you are confident enough then I would suggest you to not worry about putting these up. Entirely up to you.

umm depends where you are and what letter you need to show … umm depends where you are and what letter you need to show :whistling:here post 5 is the rule

:?

It's ok to be confused...

congrats on passing

If you are a confident driver, dont touch the things.

The only time i have ever been in a near smash was idiots treating me like a tool when i was learning and had L plates. NVM the fact i was a good driver and folk tried overtaking me for thinking "oh hes a learner he'l be slow" when i hardly kept to the limit, so they would nearly smash into cars coming the opposite way.

As soon as people see L plates, they go stupid.
Same with P plates from folk i have heard from, anyone htats ever used them ditches them soon after because of the hassle it causes.

Repped.

In NI it is mandatory to display R plates for the first year and are limited to the same speed limit as whilst learning (45 mph top speed).

After that, you're free.

I have no idea about the rest of the UK though as it didn't impact me at the time P plates are a new one to me! So I am absolutely no help whatsoever in the thread
