sockets, spot lights and switches suppliers recommends required

Found 10th Oct 2016
hey everyone

i'll cut to the chase and not bore you guys with the specifics. looking to buy the following: 70 double sockets, and multiple dimmable led switches along with non dimmable led switches.

so its a fair amount I want to buy so looking for the best prices really. finishes are dependant on prices. currently have brushed chrome but may have to opt for white in the new house. depends on price really.

looking for info from people who have recent bought these items and advise really where are the best prices, who might give discounts on bulk buying etc.

in terms of led lights, what are the main points I should be wary of. how does the lumens figure relate to the brightness of light given out? also looking for reliable but cost effective places for spot lights. will need plenty of them too.

might as well add to the list also looking for deals on radiators(need about 16) along with the thermostats).

any other info in relation to lighting/switches/sockets would be most welcome.

thanks

70 double sockets? oO
lumens is a measure of brightness, higher = brighter. look out for the refresh rate as some people complain of flicker. other things are the colour of the light, some are cool/bluish whilst warm is yellowish. last is the light cast out 360 degrees or only the front

yup, 70 double sockets. house is over 4 floors and one thing ive learnt from my current house, don't fall short on sockets other im trailing extension leads. mrs hates them X)

she also has a habit of moving furniture and having different things in different places to change the look of the rooms so having plenty of sockets gives us lots of options. I mean just in the top floor attic converted to bedroom will have 8-10 sockets. some other rooms are smaller so just 4 doubles there rather have and not use than not have and then thinking should have done it.

screwfix doing clearances on lamps just now so you can buy your LED from there, they also do deals if you buy bulk sockets , I usually do that if I'm doing a big job etc (I'm a qualified electrician)

Have you a guest house/hotel ? Most rooms average 2 double sockets so that's a lot of rooms.

deals like you have to talk to them or deals as set standard prices? meaning do I negotiate reduction or it it set reduction prices depending how many units I buy? how do you find the quality of screw fix?

Go to your local electrical wholesale shop they should do a good rate on buying in bulk. They will also have a bigger range than Screwfix
Edmundsons, City electrical , Newey and erye , etc

Yes electrical usually he e good deals

Toolstation are cheap for decent sockets and have discounts for multiple items.

set prices for example a normal double socket will be £4 but if you buy 5+ they'll be £3.80 and for example 20+ will be £3.50

I use screwfix for everything, the standard is pretty flawless, especially the LAP switches etc, plus there really good looking

set prices of what you buy, the more you buy the cheaper they are, the quality is brilliant especially the LAP stuff
