So,its NOT illegal to sell 18 rated dvds and games to minors!

Found 25th Aug 2009
you couldnt make this up,apparently when the law was introduced in Britain, someone forgot to tell the european parliament-therefore the law does not exist!!

Now,all pending prosecutions against shopkeepers have been dropped and it will take at least 3 months to put a law through parliament and the eu again.

So,in the meantime its a free for all for unscrupulous traders.

Our legal advice is that those previously prosecuted will be unable to overturn their prosecution or receive financial recompensehttp://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/nol/shared/img/v3/end_quote_rb.gif
DCMS

But previous prosecutions will stand, according to the Department for Culture Media and Sport (DCMS).

Where that is funny its also quite sad to see how much of sham our law is.

laughable, no wonder corrupt MP's get off scot-free

So people who now have a criminal record, have spent time in jail, paid large fines, possibly lost their business due to a law that never existed can't actually go back and get their convictioon overturned?
Seems a tad unfair

They need to sue their defence for not pointing out there was no law stopping them from doing this.

I would have thought after the strikes in the eighties and them all losing their jobs, then the white finger claims, asbestos claims, and now the black lung claims, they are sitting pretty anyhow, cant see why we should make a law to stop out of work blokes with lamps on their heads not be able to see an 18 movie

No as the defence will have been working from Archbold which listed it as an offence.
Personally I think the goverment solicitors are wrong on this, I fail to see how a conviction can stand if the law wasn't enacted.
