Some advice please Mums and Dads

I want to get my 9month old son a new toy. However im fed up of spending 20/30 on a toy and finding they are rubbish.
So ive looked through the Argos catalogue and found a toy i think he'd like but was wondering if anyone else has bought their baby one? If so did the baby like it or get easily bored?.
Also my son loves to play a drum my in laws have brought back from holidays, the trouble being he likes to suck it too and so he cant play with it now incase the paint on it is unsafe.
So i found this drum in Argos for 12 months plus but it ones kinda cheap so was wondering if anyone had bought this as well

Give him your saucepans & lids & ''plastic stuff''' to play with, mine used to prefer these to anything else !

Sorry the drum looks like it would break really easy. Its more expensive but I'd buy him one from Early Learning - my kids both had their instruments and never had a problem.

This one is designed to last until he's 3. Its got a rattle inside it. Looks more sturdy to me. Its £12.50.

Don't know about the giraffe thing.

This is a recipe for a nightmare! It will drive you crazy!

If you want to let him bash stuff around, let him hit your saucepans with a wooden spoon and at the end everything tidies away easily.

My kids had the giraffe thing, they loved it as it makes noises and also teaches good co-ordination. They like it as they can pull themselves up on it as well.
Every so often when i go to the health visitors office they have one there, and they still go for that there. The oldest one that plays with it is 6yrs!
There is another fisher price toy mine loved will try find the link to it. Think its called Stride to Ride.

ELC is best for instruments or just pots and pans are as good!

We had the previous version of this (without the giraffes head just a spiral) and our little fella loved it, it encouraged him to stand and then bend to retrieve the balls and also it helps hand eye co-ordination, he's had hours of fun with it!

Try this from Early Learning Centre £30. (Maybe similar cheaper elsewhere)

Great for encouraging sitting up/keeping them in one place! Can put favourite soft toys/teething/chewing toys in.

theres no chance of that hes walking i just paid £80 for a playpen so i could open it up as a room divide. The only way to keep him in one place is a travel cot filled with his toys. Hes been able to climb out his walker since he was 7months. Hes had no end of bumps he grabs where the metal struts on it criss-crosses and literally hoists himself out head first even if you standing next to him.
    Thankyou for your input anyway

Just thought I would mention that the giraffe is on offer at Tesco at the moment and you should be able to use the £5 voucher with it. Our kids have always love d the fisher price farm as well, they have spent hours playing with it, we originally bought it when our eldest was only about 9months too!

as well. Although i might keep this for xmas unsure yet.

Buy him a wheelybug. They cost around £45 and will be the best investment you've ever made. My 3½ & 7 yr old daughters have had theirs for nearly 3yrs and they are still the most played with present. I'm sure that they'll last far longer than they want to play with them and are the only toys that I intend to keep in the loft for their children. Just google wheelybug for stockists. A lot of our friends went out and bought them after seeing ours and think the same.

i remeber buying a simple old fashioned jack in the box and my both daughter loved it and they still have it - they are now 18 and 26

i totally agree, my little boy loved getting the pans and a wooden spoon. although he did have a toy similar to the top toy with balls and he got loads of fun out of that. one of the best toys he had at that age but all kids are diffrent.

I think the best thing of kids toys, is we enjoy playing with them as much as the kids lol

i went mad with melissa's first xmas, she was always more interested in my keys or phone lol out of all the toys ive bought her she only stayed interested with a ball and her cyrayons

when my kids were that age i used to go to car boot sales and get stuff like this.

check out the sale on thetoyshop.com they have got some good pre school toys
