Some jerk took out a contract in my name...

Found 10th Feb 2014
The contract was taken out on a business account. I received emails about my O2 business login and thought... Eh whats this?
So I called O2 first they had no idea and took about about 30 mins to find it and said its fraud, and they will look at it and call back.
Anything like this happen to anyone on here. If so what happens and what is effected.

excuse me?

its getting sent back if anything comes
Someone at my work had this done to them. The scammers got two contracts out and waited outside her house and collected two phones. Then they did a third contract for an Iphone 5 and the person was in so they have that phone. All the fraud stuff is done and has been paid off to the phone companies but the company that sent the Iphone 5 said they would send packaging for the Iphone to be sent back to them but nearly two months later the packaging has not turned up and they have not contacted her again. She asked me if she could use the phone as they don't seem bothered about getting it back. Obviously I said order a free sim and see if its blocked if not use it until they ask for it or eventually block it.

I think the correct procedure is.Contact the company in writing (email), give them a reasonable amount of time to send the packaging (say 14 days). State if they do not reply or send the packaging, you will dispose of the item. Keep all correspondence. Then it yours to use or sell. I'm not an expert but I do think this is what you can do.

what?
The only question I had but the person didn't know was a credit check would have to be carried out and would that be wiped away because it was fraud or would it be left on the credit file. I would do an experian report.

Hopefully the box isn't empty when it comes.
No chance that someone called you about "upgrading" your current phone lately? I've seen that happen a few times; Some crappy call centre calling people half way into contracts and offering them a "new" phone, and then sending them a second £75-quid-a-month contract phone on top of their original.

He won't know if the box is empty or not unless he opens it. OP, have you opened the box yet...?
make sure no one waits outside your door or goes to the postman asking for your door stuff to get your phone

O2 text me saying the account has now been deleted.

That's it.

Did you get a phone?
If it's a Nokia 3210 I'll give you £500 quid for it if you can stick flappy bird on it.
Leave your house.. come back dressed as a delivery person holding a box! and see who comes up to you to collect the phone!
