    Some people really annoy me....

I was just browsing a forum for my workplace and there are staff on their moaning about getting a 2.5% wage rise.

There are 2.5 million people unemployed with more added daily and they are moaning about getting a wage rise.

    Some people grrr

    Tesco?

I haven't had a pay rise in over 3 years. Times are tough and I don't really think it's fair to expect one.

exactly, they are moaning it doesn't match the rate of inflation or some crap, but any wage rise is a good thing...

Tesco is one of those places that post massive year on year profits and have board members on millions and like to splash this everywhere.

Some see the 'headlines' and like the redtop newspapers suck it all up.

    Taken from the BBC website

The increase is below the current 4.5% rate of inflation, although it is … The increase is below the current 4.5% rate of inflation, although it is higher than the 2% rise in UK average earnings seen in the year to April

They should count themselves lucky as any increase in wage in this climate is a damn good thing. Especially good seeing as though tesco profits were not as good in the UK. Tesco could have said those abroad get 4% and the UK get nothing, either way they would have been moaning.

I bet they are the same people that do the bare minimum aswell and have no ambitions for themselves or the company.

I always reward staff that work really hard and not ones that don't - it is as simple as that for me.

Oooh I never knew about a pay rise! Any extra cash is fab in my eyes!
Does anyone know when it will kick in? x

agreed, those that have time to moan are the ones doing **** all..... they should do something to pass time rather then bitch and moan.

If tesco gave them shares instead they would work harder as they know (well i hope) that if their attitude and work progress, more people would show with them and their share prices would go up. But they are too thick to realise this and they dont have shares either lol.

Funnily enough, tesco's share price went down on the news that it made an overal profit, but not as much as was expected in the UK.

We get shares as well We get shares when we have worked for a year, when the results are published. We got something like 3.2% of our yearly wage in shares a few weeks ago.

Tesco share price is like a yoyo, bouncing down from £3.80 to £5 regularly.

    do you work for tesco?

Yes, extra cash which fits in around my kids Plus love the free shares too. They are a good company to be with really.

I got a pay cut last year, earnt £1000 less this tax year, so yeah it does kinda bug me when people moan about "only getting x% payrise" bunch o'twits

It is the ones who moan about how much work they have to do, how they don't get 200 days a year off and clock in 5 minutes late and clock out 5 minutes early.

I know if we do well, I get shares which I can sell tax free and I get a wage rise... That has to be an incentive to work surely?

Exactly, work what ever hours you want, bloody good pay, decent pension, flexible time off if needed and loads of opportunities to progress onto management or another store.

Tesco is only my part time job while I build my own business but I know I am paid well and if I wanted to progress then they would allow me too.

How much is "bloody good pay"?

If they had ambitions they wouldn't be working in Tesco

Any wage rise is a bonus IMHO

    2.5% increase = 2.5% pay cut.

If people want to moan about getting less than they deserve then let them. I am an investment banker and even we are having to tighten our belts due to the mess the public sector made of the economy. My bonus this year is only likely to be £250K so I can sympathise with the Tesco workers.
