Ive got a ps3 and since day 1 ive had it connected up via a router, wired. No problems at all. But since ive gotten a laptop, ive gone wireless so thought to save cabling mess i would now run the ps3 wirelessly through my new router. Connects no problem, giving between 95 and 100% signal strength but its just so so slow!! Going on to the playstation store takes ages to load up, Vidzone will not stream any videos at all and will load up very slowly. Im not sure what im doing wrong. It isnt dropping connection or anything, its just horrendously slow all the time. Laptop however is fine and doesnt drop speed at all. Are there any settings i need to change on the router to make this better?

What speed is your broadband and also if you have to many things using it at once the ps3 will struggle

broadband is virgin media and its 10 meg. Ive tried it even with the laptop switched off. These are the only two devices connected. The router is locked as well so i know no one is stealing my bandwidth

When my pc connection was wireless it crawled whenever my PS3 was on, and eventually kept dropping the wireless connection completely (also on 10mb Virgin)

Now I run the pc wired and the ps3 wireless but will prob run it all wired soon.

Have you got an old ntl modem? Am wondering if this is my issue, maybe I'll give them a ring and see about a freebie upgrade

my modem is the one that came with the package, so its about 9 or 10 months old i think. The PS3 was fine wired , just rubbish now its wireless

Rewire it then, it sounds like you have the lead and the ps3 is by your modem. If I could be ar**ed I'd rewire mine but the lead is in the cupboard under the stairs and I'm not feeling **THAT** brave to venture within

Just Google "Slow PS3 Wireless" and there are any number of forums with that issue out there. This one may be helpful . . .
