South Korea's Incheon Airport voted best in the world

And no UK airports in the top 10 list, just shows how dissapointing our airports are. Asia is a clear winner here with 6 out of the top ten in the list.

SEOUL, South Korea (CNN) -- South Korea's Incheon International Airport has been voted the best in the world, according to a 10-month survey of airline passengers.

Incheon, located about 70 km (43 miles) from Seoul, often ranks among the busiest airports in the world.

It boasts a golf course, spa, private sleeping rooms, a casino, and indoor gardens that, according to the airport's Web site, offer "travelers an oasis of calm and tranquility permeated with the refreshing scent of pine."

It is no surprise then that the annual survey conducted by the British-based consultancy group, Skytrax, ranked Incheon the No. 1 airport.

The survey asked 8.6 million passengers at 190 airports to rate the facilities based on their experiences at check-in, arrival, departures and transfers.

Incheon edged out Hong Kong's International Airport and Singapore's Changi Airport -- but barely.

"At one stage, it looked possible there might be a dead-heat result between these top three airports," Skytrax said in a statement.

The annual survey also judged airports on individual categories.

Dubai International Airport in the United Arab Emirates came out tops for having the best duty-free shops, Hong Kong serves the best food, Helsinki-Vantaa in Finland is least likely to lose passengers' bags and Japan's Kansai International has the cleanest restrooms.

The top 10 airports, according to the survey, are:

Incheon International Airport in Seoul, South Korea
    Hong Kong International Airport
    Singapore Changi Airport
    Zurich Airport in Switzerland
    Munich Airport in Germany
    Kansai International Airport in Japan
Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol in the Netherlands
    Central Japan International Airport Centrair
    Auckland Airport in New Zealand

    its so shiny!

I'm surprised Heathrow even got 3 stars. 1 star would have been more appropriate.

Korea will be 'fuming' . .

LBI never made the list

Strange? I've already bought my tickets, gambling chips and golf clubs :-D
    lol

I suppose all the major airports of the world that don't appear on the list are because they are the busiest.

How many of the busiest top 10 are on that list?

If you travel via a nice quiet tranquil airport it is bound to make you happier and lead to a better experience.

Hong Kong International is the 9th busiest in the world/ 3rd busiest in Asia by passenger numbers and 2nd busiest in the world by Cargo numbers

Incheon is 4th busiest in the world by Cargo numbers

Singapore Changi is 10th busiest in the world by cargo numbers

So they are not little grass runway strip airports, and these three are the only 5 star rated airports

Only 1 of the top 10 in the world then.

    Cargo airports hardly count.

Not going to turn this into an argument, I just think that the worlds busiest airports are always going to struggle to seem as pleasant as the smaller ones.

It's ok, i don't want any arguments too, just a discussion is fine
You are right that a more busier airport will have less ease in creating a more pleasant experience for the customers, but for example with the money gained from the monopolization of UK Airports from BAA, they could easily spend a few quid to improve their airports. so i think the list is not mostly due to the capacity, just down to the company, seeing as almost all of the airports on this list are from one continent.

schipol is up in the top ten? interesting.... i didnt think it was all that.
