    sorry yeah that was lazy:

SPCtl.dll is one of the most important parts of Windows operating system on your computer. Without SPCtl.dll, your system might not work at all. If SPCtl.dll becomes error and you do not fix it on time, your Windows operating system will definitely be crashed. What’s worse, your whole Windows system will be damaged. To check and fix SPCtl.dll regularly is an absolutely essential task to ensure your computer can run well.

Wipe your drive and go with linux.

Can you not just download a copy of the dll file from microsoft?

    thanks man

use something like Malwarebytes anti Malware program to check if its just malware, there is a free version and gets updated regularly

    malwarebytes.org/mba…php

Also sharkalos, that paragragh you copied and pasted is so bad grammar wise, it has just been shoved through a translation engine, like googles translator.

Thanks but i already use malware bytes and super antispyware in addition to AVG Free. Problem arose a few days ago when i ran a duplicate cleaner prog and registry cleaner - now on startup everytime i get the SPCtl.dll error message but windows seems to be running ok so I might just ignore.

    Thanks everyone for your help.

you can always run a windows repair, that will replace any damaged or missing windows files. But I wouldn't rely on a registry cleaner that is trying to charge you (threatening with damge to windows if you don't buy it)

This isn't written by someone who speaks English as their first language. As we've seen from Hitler, Pixmania and all those Nigerian scammers, people who don't speak English as their first language aren't to be trusted, and anything they tell you should be treated with suspicion. Since these guys are apparently also asking you for money, doubly so.

That aside, SPCtl.dll isn't a file I recognise off-hand, and I suspect it isn't a part of Windows (be it XP, Vista or 7). If that's the case, then it more than likely will have no bearing on the running of your OS. Within what context are you seeing this error message? When does it come up? What does it stop you doing?

It just errors after the welcome screen on bootup - Im pretty sure its because ive recently run a duplicate cleaner prog to free up some space. It doesnt seem to be stopping me from doing anything so I think I shall just ignore it.

    thanks for your help

do you have a windows CD or is it a repair partition -

you could try the sfc /scannow now command from the run box - info regarding this is here

    pcsupport.about.com/od/…htm

system restore/reapair/google the file and download it

The easiest fix for this is boot into safe mode and then system restore to a previous date.

Where did you obtain the "duplicate cleaner prog and registry cleaner" from?

A similar site to the one you are sourcing the information about the file (maybe run by the team that are planning to infect your PC [further] with more malware or security/privacy-invasive software)?
