Hi all just bought a Zotac Zbox ID18 purely for streaming HD from the web etc no gaming ..,
Just wondering what kind of RAM and SSD you think would do the job don't want to purchase unnecessary amounts ... For example would 4gb RAM and 128gb SSD be good or would it make a massive difference to the performance going up to 250gb SSD?
Like I say just for streaming and prob just running openelec xbmc
Was looking at the kingston 128gb v300 SSD and crucial 4gb RAM

Although there is a small difference in performance, it is very little and the main difference why you would choose the 256GB is if you need the storage.

Not sure about the Kingston, I'd go for something like the Samsung Pro or a Crucial SSD.

No worries, looking at reviews the Kingston seems alright too. If you're worried about speeds you should check out benchmarks and see what has the best read/write speeds.

Also silly thing but ensure you have a SATA 3 compatible motherboard or you will not benefit as much.

EDIT: Sorry I've just seen you are only using it for steaming, in which case the SSD speeds wont really affect much other than loading time and will be a tiny difference, probably not even noticeable. Just go with a reliable SSD

If you're using OpenElec then you don't even need an SSD as you can boot straight from a USB Drive.

ah ok that's interesting and would certainly reduce costs... Cheers

I'd only go for an SSD if you're using Library mode and Fanart as these are performance hogs.
This little box should Steam stream games as well if you have a windows OS.
