Gonna be moving soon, should we steal the neighbours cat?

They leave it out all day even in this weather. O/H brings it in a feeds it.

Serious thread....... though we´ll call it rehoming

You can't do that

Sounds legal, do it.

are you moving really far? Are you selling? If so, then the people you've sold to will have your address. If your only renting, 'rehome' it and sod the rest....seems like they dont like the cat anyway :-)

Why don't you just ask them if you can have their cat?

you do realise cats are outdoor animals, do ur neigbours have a cat flap? if so then im guessing its the cats choice to stay outside

LOL exactly what I was thinking

Leave it around at your local chinese takeaway, i am sure they will look after it

No cat flap

renting and not traceable

Names a problem though......

Trouble is if you do that and they say no...it cant then just disappear.

This is going to be really controversial...if they have kids i would say no...but if they genuinely dont seem to look after it and it likes you and is comfortable in your home I would go for it. :whistling:
If they have children i definitely wouldnt though as the kids would be upset.

Mind your own damn business. Simple as that

No children and it sits outside our backdoor all day wining.

If we let it in in goes upstairs and finds a warm place to sleep all day.

are you seriously considering stealing their cat, cats are outdoor animals, they can get their own food

Try telling my cat hes an outdoor cat in this weather...we have a cat flap and he disappears for about a minute to do what needs to be done and is then straight back in to get warm. He was even a ferral kitten that we rescued so you would think he would like the outdoors but not in this weather.

It sounds like your cat already.

Just take it with you:thumbsup:

Can you not just ask? they may be greatful! If you do just take it, leave a note so they dont spend time and money trying to track it.

Plus if it is chipped and they report it missing it will come up if they ever scan it at the vets.

are you with the FBI?

Tempt it to follow you into the van with a sardine on the end of a piece of string. Then you won't have actually stolen it, more like tempted it to run away from home.

Repeat process from van to new house. Result!

It sits outside YOUR house, YOU feed it, it sleeps in YOUR house.... It's already your cat, it would be cruel to leave your pet behind

Seems to me that your neighbours probably know he goes in yours if he sits on the step regularly. I would try speaking to them as they dont have kids they may be OK with it you never know. The problem with cats is they look after no 1 and you have sort of encouraged it in to your house by letting it in and feeding it. If the neighbours seem ordinary nice people it would be very harsh taking it away and of course very illegal....only you really know the situation and people. If you miss it get a cat from cat protection when you move. Good luck.

you can't just steal your neighbours cat!!!
of course it'll want to come into your house if you keep feeding it!!
GRRRRR!

all cats are different, some like being outside all day and some like to be curled up indoors. just because it's outside and it's cold weather it doesn't mean it's being mistreated!

This reminds of a thread on MSE where a poster was really upset because her neighbour was trying to poach her expensive pedigree cat. I was really suprised to learn that apparantly it was quite common for cats to be poached or willingly abandon their owners in favour of richer pickings.
