LOL

He should have signed for United when he had the chance.

He'll always be remembered for "that slip", The most comical slip in the whole of football history.

Still, got to respect the guy, there aren't many loyal footballers left, last of a kind imo.

Where in that article does it claim he was won ''everything''?

He was tempted by Chelsea, but United!
Excellent player who followed his heart and not the biggest pay day and easy glory with more successful teams.
That's why he's a class above many big players.
He's a legend at Anfield but if he'd left he'd just be another good midfielder who won the title who are ten a penny.

He preferred to be a big fish in a small pond. Incredibly hardworking and great stamina but that's about all he had.

Hard to tell at times if people are joking or have allowed their bias to twist their sense of perception that much.
With regard to sport and politics it doesn't matter as they aren't important but if ones perception is that twisted in regards to important issues then they'd better look out.

Isn't that the entire reason he went to LA Galaxy in the first place?

Luke Chadwick has more prem medals than gerrard!!! X)

You should know by now the OP words his topics for argument value not the actual facts.

Are you suggesting that there are more important things to HUKD than sport and politics? Or are you confusing t'internet with real life?

He actually had a trial at United and was offered a seven year deal apparently, Also we tried to sign him a few times lol.

A very good player who stayed at a small club where he was guaranteed to start every match and play how he wanted to, rather than try it at a bigger club where he would have had to adjust his game.

One of the top 10 midfielders in the Premier League era.

Probably one of the top 10 English midfielders in the Premier League era but more like top 50 if you add in the imports.

a small club that is still the most successful in England.....

One of the greatest players. Single handed kept up in the game in Istanbul and won
the FA cup vs West Ham.

Enjoy your retirement.

When people suggest Liverpool are a bigger club than ManU I assume they are referring to them having won twice as many European competitions than them.

Original Poster

Wow, Liverpool fans talking about their history. Can't be long until someone says 'this year is definitely our year' then. X)

Gerrard was a very good player who could've been a great one if he'd played at a better club, with better players under a better coach. He didn't though. He stayed at Liverpool where he was the biggest fish in a small pond and when a truly great player (Suarez) finally did arrive to almost take them to a league title, Gerrard bottled it.

He'll be remembered for one thing - slipping.

True, but Two league titles more and more FA cups = more success for United. We underachieved in Europe. Lost two finals too so we're unlucky.

Liverpool also lost two finals so United equal them there in Europe.
United played well until the finals but I don't recall them playing that well in a final since 68.
Considering their performances in the Fergie finals I'd say they were lucky to win 2 really; one on penalties and an injury time renaissance.

The boots he was wearing when he slipped have more class and dignity than you show on these forums.
Medals rust away but being a decent human being is of true value.

since Fergie left Utd are back where they belong, overspending and mid table, not even the best team in Manchester. A truly mammoth fall from grace lol

We still consistently beat Lfc more than they beat us, even in times when we weren't dominant. Ok think the premier league is harder to win than the old league one. More quality.

If you're trying to suggest that Gerrard was a decent human being then you've got a very short memory.

Southport 2009

If he hadn't been tried before a jury of 12 Liverpool fans, he'd probably still be in prison.

Not much grip though. X)

I'm not a Liverpool or a United fan, but I believe Gerrard was a class player. Definitely in my top 20 premier league era players.

Steven Gerrard has more European Cup medals than Eric Cantona. Just saying
Seriously though anyone who doesn't concede he's one of the top top players of his generation is just well, mad. He's played consistently well in some god awful Liverpool teams throughout the years. Yet he never hid away from his responsibility as both club captain and somebody who represented the red half of merseyside. He very rarely if ever had exceptional players to play with yet he consistently performed.

I love Claude, although I'd never say it to his face X)

What if we all chip in to pay for a testimonial for HotEnglishAndWelshDeals maybe he might retire from HUKD! X)
Although less of a testimonial than sounding like someone whose been kicked in the testes and is moaning.
