Have you not got a backup disk?

we have the blank recovery disks, but no back up disks for windows, it was 100% genuine installed when we bought the PC from tescos, we were just never given a disk.

Have you tried running the recovery disk?

Try tapping F8 on startup see wat options it gives you

Is you pc an] IQon
If so this may help. If not best let people know what pc you have.
Thanks for your reply.
The book says:

a) As you switch your PC on, tap the F10 button repeatedly. This will launch the iQon System Recovery.
b) A screen will be displayed with 3 options.
c) Select "System Recovery-Quick Format" option. This will format the Hard Drive, and re-install Windows XP back to the factory-shipped default image.
d) The recovery will take about 10mins, once recovery is completed you will be prompted to re-start your computer.

I shall try this tonight, and see what happens.. I'll keep you informed.

Thanks again.

Ok here goes if it is an acer then its quite simple as i have 4 acers
Click Start
Scroll down to Acer
Click and open up Acer eRocovery Management
On the left and sidebar click Restore and a menu will come up with options
Click Completely Restore to Factory setting and away you go.

Be AWARE that after this is completed you will need to reinstall such things as you anti virus and all the windows updates
