Love to see the magistrate's face if they had carried out their threat and arrested him and prosecuted an 8 year old for possesing an imitation fire arm.

How pethetic.. Rapists and drug dealers on the street, but no, the police are cracking down on boys with toy guns.

Thats what this world needs, less boys with toy guns.

talk about over the top! I would rather take my son to the police station and see what they would do then but then again i would never buy my son a toy gun these days.

Things have changed over the years. My nine year old had a toy gun when he was little and loved playing cops and robbers with his friends but when you hear all these stories recently about children (young adults as they like to be called) using guns it makes me wonder. Not that i think my son will turn into a thug because i bought him a toy gun 5 years ago but ... not sure where i am going with this :whistling:

My three year old does not own a toy gun but a Buzz Lightyear Zapper, does that count!?

Bet the copper was a bully a school.

Next thing they will be wondering why most of the community thing they are useless and don't have any trime for them.

We should. Lmao, jokin.

Guns have to have a red/orange tip to distinguish them.

Isnt that a USA law?

I bought a huge BB gun the other day and it was really powerfull, but that came with a normal tip (black).

Although i did buy that gun from a market, he was selling a lot of BB guns though, none that i seen had a orange tip.

ok swap you for some footie cards ... :-D

Sorry but I think times they are a changing & kids, youths or adults with guns, toy or otherwise in the street will cause concern.

As for those who seem to think its easy to tell a real gun from a toy one I'm afraid they often all look like toys till they go "pop".

The law says it is an offence to carry an imitation firarm in public & I imagine most people would agree this is a sensible law. It would seem daft to tag onto the end of that law "unless the person carrying the imitation firearm is under 16".

Perhaps we should tell the police to ignore guns that have the trigger painted "orange". I'm sure thatll be a foolproof way of distinguishing a real gun from a toy.

If this lad had found the gun in his mums cupboard & taken it out to play with it the Copper would be hailed as a hero instead of being slagged off as being a bully.

I've had bb guns fired at my window while my 4 year old was stood behind it. PC plod did nothing about it at all.

The copper in this story was that peeved off when they questioned his actions, he even had a go about the little girl riding her toy car on the pavement.

According to locals, the car park where Rhys died had become a meeting place for gangs, yet plans to have police there between 8pm and midnight were withdrawn last May. A camera was proposed for this coming October. It is depressing by comparison that a camera was already in place on a beach in Sussex to catch two girls exposing their breasts, and police were available to arrest and charge them, and accompany them to court last week (though the case was later dropped), while nobody from our busybody state was watching the known troublespot where Rhys died.

There was also police time and presence enough in Wythenshawe, Greater Manchester, this month to arrest a boy who threw a sausage at a man in the street and to charge him with assault, for which he could stand trial at vast expense.

Sausage story here: news.bbc.co.uk/1/h…stm

As with most of these stories when you look a bit deeper ther is more to it than just a stray sausage.

- According to that report the 74 year old man had been subject to "a series of incidents in which he had been intimidated by local youths".

- The youth who was charged had "previously been issued with three reprimands".

I'm sorry but if the old boy was my grandad I'd want the 12 year old charged as well. He had been given 3 warnings & appears to have taken no notice.

Off subject a wee bit maybe but why the hell is a 12 year old boy taking "sleeping tablets" !!!
