Do you know why stores are called what they are?

Here are a few I have found. Do you know any more?

TESCO - T.E. Stockwell and Albert Cohen (founders)

ASDA - Associated Dairies

Can I also just add that Tesco which used to be called TES Cohen all started from a very popular (and now somewhat successful!!) fruit and veg market stall. Unbelievable isnt it.

M&S = Marks and Spencer

HMV = His masters voice, named after the dog/gramophone image they used as their logo

C&A = Clemens and August, founders

oh, and 'Adidas' comes from the founders name 'Adi Dassler' and not 'all day I dream about sports' as alot of people think. His brother Rudolf formed a rival company called 'Ruda' which later became Puma.

Both were members of the Nazi party too :?
