    Straight

crossover is for PC to PC or Hub to Hub connection, if your going PC to router or PC to switch then stick to straight.

    Wot he said ^^^ lol

    Straight

Fully agree, crossover is normally used when directly connecting a PC to another PC (or similar such as a console)

a straight cable should be fine if you're just using it for a router - PC

crossover cables are better since they are full duplex (able to communicate with one another in both directions) and are normally used where there's no router or hub involved i.e. PC:PC

though you're better off getting a few more responses before deciding

Unless the router supports auto MDI/MDIX a crossover cable would be useless.

    Straight cable 4 def,

but I did post a longtime ago about the different cross over cables u can make,
(yes more than one cross-over cable),

Any router less than a few years old would sort the connection out for you regardless of the cable - but stick to straight.

What is the xbox connected to? The xbox can't cross patch - the PC or router you are connected to must be sorting the connection (although with a PC you would want the crossover anyway).

    You can keep switching

Then it is the router sorting out your connection. Most do that now. Direct to PC or xbox to xbox requires a crossover.
