Stuck on sons xmas prezzie, help me with games console advice please.

Can anyone point me in the right direction, my son is 7 year old and is football mad.
He wants fifa 10 and that is the main thing he wants, BUT we are also getting him a new games console as the ps2 is a bit dated now for the newer game.

The thing is we are torn between the PS3 Slim and Xbox, we have seen a fantastic deal for the xbox but dont want to buy it if its rubbish, and same for the PS3.
Because he is only 7 and not really bothered about gadgets and the fancy stuff they can do, all he wants to do is plat his fifa and thats it, so money wise and everything else what would you suggest????

Any idea what consoles his friends own?

If they all have the same console it will make it easy to bring their pads round for 4 player FIFA.

Hi
You may want to ask your son what console the majority of his mates have - that we it will help you decide which to get so that he can play them online against them etc

I never though of that, he has a few that have the xbox, but i'm guessing that the PS3 will be as a christmas prezzie for some of them.
I'm not sure he would even know or want to do that anyway, he just likes to have his mates round or play with his dad on it.

He will want to play online eventually - it ads a new dimension to the game.

Will it be going in the living room? I'd argue they are such similar consoles that you may as well save some money and get the 360.

But if it's going in a family room you could make use of the Blu-ray player in the PS3.

PS3 for me everytime, You dont need to pay an extra £50-60 for the network adaptor, It is also a bly ray player and it has bbc iplayer for catching up on missed programs, it works very well. Also the internet function is not bad too.

I have an xbox360 but I tend to play on the PS3 because I think its better.

Personally i think that anyone recommending a PS3 over the Xbox 360 for gaming purposes must be on drugs...

my son will be 7 soon, just got him a ds lite, how about one of those or a psp they are perfect for younger kids.

You do realise you're gonna start them all off again don't you ... the ps3 boys V the xbox 360 boys lol.

The DS is good but as he wants fifa 10 then yes, a 360 or a ps3 would be better.
As has been said, find out what console's his m8s have ... especially his best m8s.
Maybe ask their parents if they're getting them a console for crimbo?

lol +1 also the achievement capability in the xbox 360 makes gaming a lot more fun, even though ps3 has "trophies" its no where near as good... in my opinion..

Get both, he'll probably explode with joy!

I've got an Xbox360 and it's great for games and it's also cheaper so probably you're best bet.

XBOX 360, without a question of a doubt, the deals you can get with fifa 10, another game & the xbox elite on here are BARGAINS!

:gift:

Again Xbox 360.. I'd imagine he'd like the achievement points set up.

xbox 360

360 everyday

Having neither I am fairly neutral, however, my grandson is 11 and he chose the 360. It has similar games but I am told the online playability of the 360 is superior. If you are worried about internet cost then I am advised the PS3 is free to get online. He loves his 360.

To be honest i think there arent enough games on the market for a 7 year old on the PS3 or Xbox. My youngest is 10 and we struggle to find suitable games.
AT such a young age i think a wii would be more suitable with all the mario kart games etc.
Also agree kids love the DS if you havent got one already.
Good luck whatever you decide.

He had one of those last xmas!

-might be important to note that xbox 360 online will cost you around £30 per year-whereas PS3 online is free.

I'd still go for the xbox though
