    Student house elec & gas bill!

    Sooo, just got a bill from EDF energy, stating we are getting billed 521 for elec, and 262 for gas! I can accept that, as we made 1 payment for the year, which was 150 ish. Here's what i dont get, they charged us £120 for 19 days electricity, while gas was £10 in same period. So total is around £933 for a year. So they charged us around 15-16% of that, in 19 days? Umm!

    If they are all estimated bills, I'd check the readings and call them up to confirm.

    It has A= actual reading, and C=Customer reading. We never read it lol - we were all moved out on 19th

    Get your landlord to confirm the readings and speak to EDF.

    Landlord could put down a really high figure then so they get free energy!

    A doesn't mean acctual, when a read has a 'a' beside it it's a manual estimate.

    Did you not take reads when you moved out??

    The reading on 19th, was a Customer reading. The only people that had access at this time was the company. My electric for the year was £550. For the 19days, £120. Doesn't add up.

    As i said then, it can be different between companies although ive not long switched from EDF and A meant actual on those bills as well, ive got the bills to prove it! but im not going to argue about it, stupid how its different between companies

    You sure the reading submitted before the 19th day period was accurate for the electricity? If it was not, they may have taken the outstanding amount from the previous amount you paid up.

    Anyhoo, I guess it's a case of lesson learnt if you can't fix this, always take your readings when you move out.

    When i moved into my apartment and i switched from EDF to Eon there were issues because we dont actually have access to the meters to take a reading, seriously the meters are locked away and we dont have access! took weeks before we got someone from the maintenance team to let us in.
    All i did was get EDF to suspend my account so the payment wasnt due untillt they could make the bill more accurate, surely you can do this?

    Not quite as simple as that! if only it was! He would have to be super super accurate with the number or they will query the change in usage, plus they will (im assuming) already have a record from previous bills or even previous tennants, thats how they worked out mine in the end.
