they're useless. I'll have a look online hang on.

due to the fact student nurses get the biggest bursary from college and uni not many people are willing to help! job centre plus do emergency loans but tbh its not worth the hassle

what is she struggling with?

Q1) is it the uni fees and costs?

Q2) is it bills such as gas/electric/water?

Q3) is it just money in general?

A1) If its the uni costs then could speak to the uni about a hardship loan and make sure she is receiving all the possible loans/grants/bursaries

A2) There are schemes offered by most of the big utility suppliers to help those in fuel poverty, ie, more than 10% of income spent on fuel costs, I have some info. in work lying about and will bring it home tomorrow(cant access HUKD at work grrrrrrrrrrr!!!) and there is also schemes from water suppliers to help with water bills

A3) She can apply to the job centre for a budgeting loan and there are credit unions who can loan money for affordable rates. Make sure she has checked if she claims any state benefits she may be entitled to.

I work with families on low incomes and there are various agencies and charities that can provide financial assisstance such as cash for furniture, providing electrical goods, toys and clothes for kids, cash for holidays etc.

HTH

Don't student nurses get everything paid for them and a salary - as opposed to studying for any other profession?

When I need money I work for it. It's a novel idea, I know......

goto the jobcentre and speak to someone or ring the benefits helpline

children should be catered for in some way i should imagine if no income is coming in....??

Yeah, the interest rate is great at the moment, but it linked to the RPI, which was as high as 5% in the time I've been paying mine back. That's a hefty amount of money on a £13k loan year on year.

Access to learning fund? This is usually available from a Uni's Student Services and is very generous (up to £3500) with priority for single parents.

Benefits will take into account the bursary and any student loans available even if she hasn't taken them.

I'm Scottish too and didn't have to pay fees - I did however have to pay my own way for everything else, hence the £13k over 4 years.

Are you with one of the unions? maybe they can help? I think the RCN have a free advice line you can try..

Just a thought...can you work bank shifts as a HCSW, lots of student nurses I know are doing this.
