Subaru car trouble please help!!

Hi, i have a Subaru Legacy 55 plate 2lt petrol, non turbo version. Just returned from a trip around 500 miles and through the gears i seem to be losing power and the car seems very lumpy and slow to respond.

At first i thought it was dodgy fuel but i have tried three different petrol stations putting small amounts in to see if it was dodgy fuel but not.

I will book it in to a garage next week but hoping someone with car knowledge (which im not!) might have an idea??

Rep will be given of course!

thanks boys and girls!

if your running it on low fuel could it be your fuel filter ? possibly sucked up some garbage from the bottom of your petrol tank ?

It was serviced 5k ago and has been running fine and really never run it empty. But thanks

Could be Lamba sensor ( Check by disconnecting the sensor/s ), Injector problem, Fuel pump, Idle control valve, Catalyst, Gaskets, Mas air flow sensor, Possible unlikely other causes Sparkplugs, HT leads etc...

Sorry I meant could be one of those things, Not "All of them", However I'd seek advice from a garage..!!!

Good luck and of coarse it could be something else and I'm not a mechanic..

dont worry i know what you meant, just getting a view from people that might have more of an idea than little ol me!!

Need to get it booked in to be checked, the final straw was pulling out on a roundabout and losing power.....so not safe!

Just wanted people opinions/ knowledge really but thanks

you could try checking the spark plugs

I agree with this man (or woman).

Could be either of these things as they are all related. Isn't always the head gasket, if it was you'll more than likely get milky scum in your coolant and will often overheat... Like you stated, it might have been contaminated fuel and that might have messed up your Lamba (o2) sensor.

P.S. I am no mechanic but have had cars in the past that have suffered from all of these problems!!

My husband had the same problem and it was the battery pack that had gone. It wasn't on a subaru but am presuming they all have them.
