Such a thing as a usb caddy for both 2.5 and 3.5 drives?

Posted 6th Dec 2022 (Posted 18 h, 30 m ago)
I'm after something simple to attach some old drives from pcs and laptops to my computer via USB, just wondered if there is anything that does both (not needed at the same time) or do I just need 2 separate ones?
Thanks

Anything that does 3.5 will do 2.5. Something like this:

I've got a Startech SuperSpeed USB 3.0 to SATA Adapter Cable

Doesn't look like it's made anymore though.

Presuming they're sata drives the connection is the same so a 3.5" dock/enclosure/adapter will work with a 2.5" too. If its ide it gets messier. If you're using an 'open' adapter cable, make sure it has a power supply as 3.5" drives use 12v so can't be powered from just the 5v over USB like a 2.5" can. (edited)

I bought a used docking station on ebay recently to hook up to my xbox series s and pc and it works a treat. Around £15 shipped I think
