Summer Work Abroad (bar jobs etc)

Next summer (2010) I am thinking about trying to get a 6 week or so job abroad during the summer holidays, I will finish college in June & start Uni in October so want to do something during that time.

Does anyone have any experience with this sort of thing. If I say got an evening job in a bar what do you do for accomodation? Also do you get much time free during the day to go on the beach etc?

Any advice would be welcome, not just bar jobs...I would just love to spend a month or two in a hot country, get a nice tan & possibly earn a bit of money,

Cheers
James

Life is not a bed of roses when you work in bars abroard. Very little wages, long hrs (up most of the night) and all you want to do is sleep all day. Would have to be a good job to pay the rent and keep you. You have to be prepared to live for the moment. If your sensible it can work but not as easy as you think it might be.

what about working at euro camp or helping out on a fruit farm?

summer camps usually pay well and you get to do what you want during the night...

lol this guy...

I don't remember the name of the place now, but between Sixth Form and Uni I planned a gap year on some fruit farm in Sweden - this company did placements all over Europe but the name escapes me, will post it here if I can remember it.

Sadly though it never materialised, instead I went straight to Uni, and to subsidise it I enrolled as a burger slave.

Get a Holiday working visa and go and work in Oz!

I did camp america and bunac for 3 summers when I was in my early 20's.

I can't recommend it enough. It's hard work but you will come away with some fantastic memories.
