Sunday League Football Question

Here's a question:

Would you join a team if they are second bottom of the bottom league and have played 8 games and these were the results:
L 4-1
L 2-1
L 3-2
L 8-1
L 8-1 (No that is not a double typo)
L 6-1
W 2-1 (Against bottom of league who are yet to win)
L 5-1

Don't start with all the 'It's not that winning that counts its the taking part' cos to a tee that is correct but that is just. Well, look at it'

Your thought?

:-)

Yes...........it's good exercise. :-D

Plus if you believe you can help make a difference........why not.

I would join so the other teams see me play and ask me to join them

I play in Goal. So in a way i could turn it round. But i still think they are quite hopeless.

Def go for it then, plenty of practise

least you score every game

1) I would never join a Sunday League team as I'm too good for that standard of football now
2) I would never join a team that gets beat every week

BUT you're probably not good enough to play for anyone better so you may aswell join them.
(no hate BTW)

Football is a team game. There is only so much each player can do. Even if Derby had Ronaldo or Rooney a few seasons ago when they were in the Premier League they still would have got relegated and got the lowest points total since the introduction of the Premier League.

good point

Im not one of them people who go to matches every weekend just to get beat, i play to win, not to get excercise not to get some fresh air in my lungs. I play to win. It's what im used to and i no it sounds really arrogant but I guess thats who i am :giggle:

I'm 24 and haven't played since I was 16. Trying to get back into the game now because it's a hell of a lot better playing it than watching it.

I would go for it.

On the plus side, you're a keeper so you'll get plenty of practice. Sunday league standard is largely made up of hungover gentleman that want to do as litle running as possible anyway

No idea as to how big you are (oo er), but Sunday League isn't for the faint hearted at times. Be prepared to take a few kicks during a game.

Jeez guess you've never heard of Roy Race?

I would go for it,
and I would like to see The_JFK actually sign for spurs, because we keep hearing this for time, and it hasn't happened yet.

I was going to sign for them but then I had to have an operation on my back and I'm out for about a month. I will probably be signing for them once I'm fully fit.

young lad, i'd completely ignore JFK's comment about 'never making it' it'll be great experience playing sunday league, one of our friends, who i wont name, but plays for a premiership team played sunday league, as i've played against him a few times in cups/league/school etc, and i was garbage, got a good left peg, can run all day, but was about it....maybe i could fill this england left spot....

anyway, go for it, you can quite easily get snapped up, people talk, put in a few performances against these 'better' teams, and they'll want you to cover them, and repeat...

My brother played in goal for a team that were usless when he was young.. He turned out to be one of the best keepers in the leaugue after a couple of seasons and ended up having trials with west brom and coventry.. I'd join them for sure.

What i forgot to add aswell is that i missed a trial with my local team where all of my mates play who are in the second division, 2nd with 10 points from there first 5 games. So i'm kicking myslef for that.

Sunday league depends so much on who and how many actually turn up that getting two or three extra players into a team can make a big difference. I would go for it. I started playing rugby again after about 10 years of not playing and am so glad I did. You'll make some new friends and have a lugh.

Just been to the training and lets just say, there is no surprise to me that they are second bottom of the league. A couple are good players but the rest are just very very bad. One screamed and ducked when the ball came towards him and he wasn't joking, going to play on Sunday and like you lot said going to hopefully work my way up the leagues. Playing a team who have won 2 and lost 3 this season already. SO fingers crossed. (I live in hope)

Off to my first match today. Against 4th (/14) who if they win will go 2nd. Wish me luck. I'm sure we will need a hell of a lot of it...

Had a look at the registration and its £20 to get registered, £10 a month and £1.50 for every home match, so i thought, im not really enjoying it, im not getting out of it what im putting in and i am going to lose money to go to a match and get slaughtered every week. So i quit....

At your age mnaybe not

It depends how much money you got spare.

Fair enough if you dont want to play for a crap team but being a gk its gonna be hard to get into another team.

I think youll be best of starting at the bottom and working your way up.

When i was playing in goal for 7 a side at the start we were crap, next season we were top 3 beating the second team once and drawing, losing both times to the top team who were undefeated in a 10 team league.

It takes time but being in goal gives you so much control over the game, if you beleive in yourself then youull get back out there and organize the crap defence

Think of it in the long run though.

Register and give it 10 games

2 3 months

Max 50 quid down the drain but at least you gave it a chance.

Thinking back even more, when i was playing under 14s crap one season prob as bad as these results next season it was totally different.

Its all about sticking it out at least for a few months

Whereas in my school football team it is a different story.

Just played against nearest rivals (a couple of miles down the road ) and won 4-2, after going behind 1-0 in the first minute, then turning it around to 4-1 Good times
