Suzuki Ignis 53 reg any good for first car?

as the title say, am looking for a suggestion from motor experts. Am on a budget below £2000 and looking for a reliable car. All my friends recommended japanese cars or Ford

Have found this Suzuki Ignis 53 reg which has 40k on clock and falls within my budget.

    Any comments/suggestion guys?

    That sounds a fair price.

However, it is one of the nastiest cars I've ever driven - and I learned to drive in an Austin 1100. :x The Ignis makes a Matiz seem positively luxurious.

I suppose that it really depends what you have driven before and what your expectations are. I would try to get a longish test drive of the Ignis before you decide to buy it. If you're OK with it after that, then maybe it's for you!

A Ford Ka would be a good place to start cheap to service and repair Shop around and you should get one in your budget with low miles and service History

Yes but they go well and as before they are a great first car!

an old fiesta 52 reg or something??

Dont know the Ignis but for older cars unless you know someone who can service them cheaply then you might want something with cheap spare parts.
Also check things like cost of road tax (not the same for all) and insurance costs. Worth also looking up expected MPG as this may alter your decision

They are a good car mechanically, but expensive if they go wroung. Being Japanese the insurance might be a bit steep. Consider a Peugeot 106/Citroen Saxo. Cheap and reliable to a large extent.

Carsurvey is by owners so they should know.

I can't recall if the Ignis was manufactured in Japan (very few Japanese cars we get are nowadays).
Be wary if it was made in Europe as the new Swift is. Built in Hungary to not particularly exacting standards.
