Sweetener / sugar substitutes?

Does anyone use a suger substitute that is not aspartame based? Everything in the supermarket seems to have aspartame in it, and I'm not happy about using it, though I can't believe how many products it is in!
I have looked at xylitol but it is expensive.

I'm sure Splenda doesn't as my wife has MS symptoms and that was one of the things to stay clear of.

I don't think it does, but it has its own problems

So does almost every food we eat. Too much information is lethal.

The NHS use splenda and its available to diabetics that use the service. These diabetics are having blood sugars checked at frequent times when they are admitted to the wards, therefore I would be warey of where the case studies have been done for this article!

you've answered your own question as to why they all contain aspartame

ive been using spelnda for a while now being diabetic and you can sometimes pick it up at bargain prices at the major supermarkets otherwise your right - its expensive!

Costco was the cheapest i saw where you got twice the amount of splenda for the price of a single box at RRP - but then you have to have a costco membership!
