    Swine Flu Jab for Children...................

Ive had a letter this week to make an appointment for my 3 year old to have the Swine Flu jab. Has anyone taken their child recently and if so were there many side effects? Just trying to prepare myself!

    got mine this week also

son 2 n 1/2 gotta get it done to be honest cant take the risk

were no medical experts so have to go with what health agency's recommend

    getting done on monday

lets face it the gov wouldnt waste money if they didnt feel it was nesesary

Not totally convinced by it to be honest, made a thread myself the other day when my letter came in, I've to take mine on Monday, still cant make up my mind, feel it was rushed out and the "epidemic" here hasn't came to much, supposed to be one of the sorest jags also.

my son had his jab as he is disabled and if you cought swine flu it would be very bad. he was fine no side effects at all. i had mine a few days ago and i was ill the next day with flue like symptoms. i think it effects people differently.

Ive just read some of the previous threads (thanks for the link) and I think its the natural instinct of a parent to feel nervous about any kind of jabs for our kids. Jabs are there for a reason tho and I for one would never forgive myself if my child was seriously ill from my decision to not have the jab. The side effects are reported to be minimal, and the more who dont have the jab, the higher the chance our kids have got to have the virus. Booked my littl'n in for 30th Jan. Thanks for all the comments.

I am dreading this dilemna when it arises, my son is only 3 so should be getting a letter soon asking to take him to be vaccinated and I honestly still have no idea what is for the best. Myself, and my 2 sons (including the 3 year old) have already had swine flu. Daughter and hubby escaped catching it. It is the worst illness I have ever had, thought I was dying at one point! On speaking to my health visitor though, she said my son should still have the vaccine even if he had already had the virus. The thing is knowing what a horrible illness it was I would never want to see him go through it again but on the otherhand I really am worried about giving him a vaccine that has so many conflicting reports. I mean obviously the government are telling us it's safe now but what about months or years down the line, if problems did occur are they just going to say oh well, we were wrong. It's just such a big gamble to know what to do.

Yeah, every single person I have spoken to said the jag itself and the whole arm afterwards was very very painful. Most, if not all people I have spoken to were ill afterwards aswell

Remember this is only the side effects that GlaxoSmithKline admit to, I 'm not a doctor but any responsible parent should take time to read this and come to their own conclusions before vaccinating there children . I know I have.

I know this thread is about kids but my sis-in-law had the jab a couple of weeks ago and has been extremely ill ever since - she's housebound now and very very weak. And hubby was in hospital over new year and the old guy in the bed opposite had been taken ill after the jab and had already been in for a month with no sign of being well enough to go home - he lost the use of his legs and spent all one night very confused and thinking everyone was trying to kill him, as well as throwing up and not being able to do anything for himself.

My kids had all the jabs going when they were kids but this one I have persuaded my sister not to let her kids have as they have made a panic situation by putting out all kinds of rubbish in the media just to make people think they have this under control when in reality they have no idea at all of the long term consequences of this jab. And the swine flu itself will kill far less people this winter than ordinary flu - and that is a direct quote from the leading expert on the subject.

People should take a step back and look at this sensibly - the jab is not fully tested so why experiment on your child ? Wait and see if this proves itself, and then make your decision based on fact not propaganda.

Its just based on the seasonal jab tho isnt it ?

This is what concerns me about me this jag, no-one knows what the long term consequences will be and I could not live with myself knowing that I had knowingly let them give this to my child and it harmed him in anyway. Obviously the flip side of that is not giving it to him and then I couldn't live with myself if he ended up seriously ill due to swine flu. That's why I find it such a difficult decision to make. For an example they once thought it okay to give thalidomide to pregnant women to relieve morning sickness with disastrous consequences. My point being that as parents we need to research all the information available and not just take it as gospel what the governments chief medical officer tells us.

Totally different from the seasonal jab.

My daughter suffer from very bad eczema and asthma, she got the jab about 3 months ago, a bit of initial soreness in the arm and thats all.

I understand the concerns that some have. If we could read into the future then all our questions would be answered, but as this is not the case, its an individual decision that as parents we have to make. Is it the right one? Whatever we decide - lets hope it is.
