    switching internet provider help

    Hi all.

Just need some help with switching broadband from Sky to O2. I know i need to phone up Sky to get a MAC Key and give that to O2 when ordering broadband from them. But will i also need to cancel my broadband with Sky while im on the phone with them or do O2 do it for me while they sort out the whole connection thing?

Also O2 are going to be bringing out a All in one service soon (Phone, Line Rental and Broadband for £17p/m) if i have broadband from them now will i be able to switch to that deal when it becomes available?

    Thanks.

Requesting Mac should initiate your intent to leave you should also have 30 days to action it.

    Hey,

If you are a member of Quidco, order your o2 broadband through them, online.

I did and got a 12 month deal on their 'standard' broadband (up to 8meg) for a nett cost of £2.50 per month (in doing so I also increased my download speed by 5 times compared to BT!)

Deal ends today wwith Quidco, so be quick.

Get your MAC code from your current isp anyways (it lasts for 30 days and dies a natural death if you dion't use it)

    The deal that I got as an existing O2 mobile customer;

    12 months @ £7.50

2 months free (2 of 12, not 2 of 14), so current annual total is £75.00

Less Quidco cashback of £45 = annual total of £30.00, = £2.50 per month

    Da daaaaaaaaaaa

    Hope this helps

    Rgds

So i can still order O2 from online, i just need to ring them later and give them my MAC key?

Not a O2 mobile customer yet but will be switching to it in June after my 3 contract expires.

Dont use Quidco anymore due to it never tracking since they redone the website, using Topcashback which is at £50 cashback for o2 at the minute plus the 2 months free.

MAC key is entered when applying online

The lack of O2 account kills the deal tho as you get a large discount for being an existing customer (I wonder if you could get a sim and be a customer that way ?)

I've heard of negative stories from Quidco but have been with them personally for 18 months and no probs at all, I think it makes a diff' if the online forms aren't filled in correctly/accurately

    Cheers

    Thanks for the reply Bill.

Only got 3/4 months left on my 3 contract so i might aswell wait. Forgot to say that im paying £17per month for Sky Broadband at the minute so im still going to be saving at least £4.50 per month. Plus the £50 cashback and 2 months free.

Actually suprised today as i phoned Sky asking for my MAC key, they didnt ask why i wanted to leave. Maybe i'll get a phone call later from there sales team offering me something lol.
