Hi,

We are moving house and have rented a ford Luton van - the model with a tail lift. I have tried the switch at the left rear of the van but the tail lift is not budging. The company closes at 7pm so not able to get through to them for help. Anyone here with experience of this model pls? Is there any on/off switch I am missing?many thanks!

There is usually an isolating switch down by the side of the drivers seat that makes the tail lift live

Usually have to leave the ignition in the acc position. Also, wont work unless the platform is down in the load position on the ones I played with.

not sure how to make it in the load position before lowering. However just tried leaving ignition in acc position - but no joy yet..

The engine needs to be running

Any pictures of what you have found so we can say if we think it's the right bit you have found?

Taking the van now o a mechanic to see if he knows can fix it (desperate measures )

also at the rear of the van there should be a box with 2 buttons on it and a round switch which rotates to switch from the control buttons inside the van to the buttons on the outside of the van (usually underneath at the nearside) if the round switch is in the wrong position it wont power the tailift from either control box so try both the sets of buttons inside and outside

Thank you so much everyone and @tomminator for trying to analyse the problem . The mechanic fixed it . He had to get inside (the shutter was open ) and switch it on from there oO- weird but too tired to analyse . But thnx again everyone . Now to make up for lost time

blk that's the switch I referred to , why its been left on in the inside of the van ill never know

Agreed, never seen one on the inside before, usually perma-mounted to the outside.

Personally, I blame the hire company, they are supposed to show you how things work before letting you drive off; I would give them a good razzing when you take it back.

ypu have to have controls inside the van , to raise and lower the tail lift when its full , unless mr tickles hired it
