the barcodes are all the same. unless you bought it from a different country or they used their own code system. But if there are no lables that shouldnt be there and the barcodes on the two games are the same then there is no problem.

thanks man gonna try it

Its called fraud and if they suspect, can get you arrested, especially if the shop can show that the item does not come from their distribution site.......these bar codes can usually be traced via the manufacturer......you can try but its a risk, and can have you sat in a cell for many hours.....

ill send u a love letter from my cell, or use my only call to abuse u lol

Simple solution, buy one which is cheaper check the barcode on it is the same as the other, if it is then take it back to the higher priced place, if not take it back to where u actually got it from. I don't see that you have anything to loose

Yeah, just be aware that you might end up lumbered with TWO copies of a game if they don't go for it, and it is strictly speaking gonna count as fraud, all depends on the store staff, some don't give a damn, and just want 6pm to roll around, and some are on the ball and ready for you

not worth it just to get £13

same product will have exactly the same barcode. They are product specific, not store specific

why not just go and nick one? its tantamount to shoplifting anyway imho.

you all need to chill out. Its the same game, for christs sake! Its not like he's trying to pass off another game, or a used game as something else!
How is it fraud returning the same game. who says it has to be the EXACT copy that was sold? I've never seen anything in consumer law, or T&C for shops, companies etc.

fraud = obtaining money by deception. Its a clear cut case. impossible to prove though

The shop isn't obliged to accept the return unless it's faulty. If it's still wrapped up then it could hardly be faulty! Any replacement would be goodwill and you couldn't force the shop to give your money back.

I would just say your partner bought the same game, therefore if it did flag up as not from that store (highly unlikely) then you could just say you must have mixed up the copies and that you'll go get the right one. (i.e leg it home with your tail between your legs!)

cough, receipt?

Like the guy above said, check the barcode. You can probably do that without buying it. When you're sure it's the same (it will be) buy it - might be best to check the £45 shop does refunds on unopened items though otherwise you'll have a problem.

If all is okay I'd go for it. The way I look at it is if I found £13, other than handing it in to the police of course I'd be happy!!

You should of gone to Sainsbury's got 20 copies and traded in at Gamestation

Buy at £26

Sell at £42 trade in price... £16 X 20 = £320 Profit.

I do something similer, mostly down to games policy games have to be sealed to get a refund

I go and buy another game sealed, take the unsealed one back get refund,

( I only do this if the game is complete and utter rubbish )

Head over to game get refund from the sealed one, bit of a hassle I know

What you are doing should work, and btw you won't be £13 up you will be getting your money back £45.
I see how you think that

Its the same product!!

just buy it and swap the disk..so that the same box goes back to the shop..just with the other disk in it.

All these suggestions, one can see who has done this kind of thing before!

the guy isn't obtaining money... he's getting back the money he already paid for the game... Loads of people do it maybe not this way round with the extra effort of buying a new one and swapping it.

But loads of people order stuff then find it cheaper so cancel or return orders... at least this guy isn't costing them admin and dispatch fees as well!

you paid £45 for Modern Warfare 2 :-D:p

Just do it, if they say anything just say you bought 2 copies from different stores and must have returned the wrong one. They won't even look at the game probably. It will go back on the shelf with exactly the same games. No fraud, no deception.

If they were both sealed and you shuffled them about how would you know which one was which then?

...no one has said it yet, but wont the receipt have the retails name on it? its like taking a dvd you purchased from asdas back to tescos...

I've done it loads of times, done it with fifa 10. Bought it from game for £39.99 to get it early, then bought it from tesco for £24.97, and then returned the tesco copy to game, Simples

My wife works in retail and they don;t even bother to turn up for shoplifters these days!
