So my router got this this worm that doing the rounds I got another router being delivered. Thought I would try my old bt home hub 2 from 2 years ago! It's works didn't have to change anything at all. My ps4 auto did settings and my mums tablet connected without password. My phone and tablet needs password. So how come I can use bt hub without changing anything?

The router will log into the dsl service at the exchange using a default generic login, this will allow your old bt hub to log onto the Internet. Your devices probably, if they have been used on that old hub before will have remembered the wifi passwords. If your phone and tablet probably have never logged onto that old device, or you have cleared our all the old passwords.
Your wifi password if you haven't changed it should be on a label on the bottom of the home hub.

My faulty router is talktalk not been with bt for 2 years. Just don't understand although not complaining why the bt hub works still using a different broadband provider.

Ok thanks for info.

The TT routers also had a lot of personal info lifted, via a secondary infection; you need to change any and all passwords used on a device connected to it.
The new one will be just as vulnerable.

At least 55,000 sets of personal info and passwords from the attack have already been posted on the Darkwebs.

Also, the HH2 was VERY insecure, you need to get something better.

If you cannot afford a lot (and being on TT suggests that), get yourself a suitable TP Link router. A basic one starts at about £18 for ADSL2/"N" spec 300Mbps Wifi.

I have the VR200, which is one of their cheaper all in one routers; it does everything ADSL/ADSL2/Cable/VDSL/3G/4G including SKY.
